It’s been a mystery why Roman concrete often lasted thousands of years, but ours decays in mere decades.
Turns out they incorporated chemicals in a process that induces self-healing; scientists at MIT just figured this all out - in 2022.
Extraordinary.

My take: We will soon have 2 groups in the US (& eventually the world): the vaccinated & those with the Delta variant
If you have access to a vaccine & choose not to take it, you are choosing to get Delta.
Delta probably won't kill you, but it might!

Earth's "COVID Melanoma" primary tumor (infection) was not initially treated successfully- the margins were not clear, allowing cells (virus) to escape and metastasize. Those COVID metastases were widespread. Earth's immune response was not well coordinated. The mets thrived.

For those of you keeping score at home
26 million Americans are known to have had COVID
420K of them died from COVID
29 million Americans have gotten COVID vaccines
0 have died from COVID vaccines
When it comes to generating immunity
vaccine > infection
Easier, way way safer

Reports out of @StanfordMed that non-patient facing employees are receiving vaccines before residents and fellows. Only 7 out of >1300 trainees have been vaccinated. Protests underway now. #ThisIsOurShot
This is Maureen Healy's statement. Mo is Professor and Chair of the History Department at Lewis and Clark. She was injured in the head by a shot fired by federal government paramilitaries while demonstrating peacefully in support of Black Lives Matter. #PortlandMoms #blm #mohealy

It turns out literally nothing happens in the heel pad. Hence the literature is generally case reports rather than a series of any particular mass. The result? No good pre-test probability as to the benignity or malignancy of a soft tissue mass. Imaging doesn’t help either.
#RSNA18 Fantastic talk by Dr Michael Recht on how we should run our radiology departments.

Read & share this beautiful, inspiring story in today’s @washingtonpost about an ALS researcher at @UCSF who was diagnosed with #ALS. It seems like “’the universe is playing a cruel joke on us,’” says Dr. Rahul Desikan. wapo.st/2MspEe7 #ALSResearch #ALSAwareness
