BJA’s FY 2026 Body-Worn Camera grant is open.
Agencies can apply for funding to purchase or lease BWCs and build a full camera program — policy, implementation, and training.
Awards: up to $2M
Grants.gov deadline: Sept 25, 2026
JustGrants deadline: Oct 2, 2026
Cameras capture the encounter. Training shapes the decisions inside it.
eTRAIN turns real BWC footage into structured decision training for academy, FTO, and in-service. If your agency is applying, we can help describe how video will be used for officer development and support the training piece of the application.
Solicitation: bja.ojp.gov/funding/opportun…
Agencies: reach out if you want eTRAIN included as a training partner.

A tragic afternoon in Times Square.
According to NYPD Commissioner Tisch, a woman armed with two knives carried out random, unprovoked stabbings — killing one person and wounding another — then refused repeated commands to drop the knives, threatened officers, and advanced on them.
Officers spent about four minutes trying to de-escalate. They then used Tasers. Those Tasers did not stop her. Facing an armed subject still moving toward them with knives in a crowded public space, two officers fired.
This is the force continuum under extreme pressure:
• verbal commands
• less-lethal (Taser)
• deadly force when the threat was not stopped
The outcome is a tragedy for the victim who was killed, for the injured man and his family, for the officers who had to make that decision in seconds, and for a city that just watched it unfold in the middle of Times Square.
The officers did what they are trained to do when an imminent lethal threat continues after less-lethal options fail. That does not make the loss any less heavy.
These are exactly the high-stakes, time-compressed decisions eTRAIN is built to prepare officers for — reading the totality of the circumstances, cycling through force options, and acting when the threat is no longer containable.
Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and the officers involved.

The best in Situational Awareness and Decision Making. ⬇️
What looks effortless is actually one of aviation’s most demanding maneuvers. In under 12 seconds, the CL-415 “Super Scooper” skims a lake to collect nearly 6,000 liters of water while pilots carefully manage changing weight, drag, and balance. Moments later, it’s back over the wildfire, making it one of the world’s most effective aerial firefighting aircraft.

🧠 over body. Leads to success.
This comes back to our 2018 article in @TorontoStar looking at our work with the @NHL referees and linesmen, featuring Tom Brady on the cover.
Over these 8 years deCervo has been hands on in translating the 🧠 to accelerating the rate of new refs joining the NHL and becoming like veteran officials faster.
Tom Brady reveals the brutally honest talk he had with a Michigan sports psychologist that turned him from a benchwarmer into the GOAT.
Brady's transformation started with one change: the way he thought.
"I sit on the bench my first year, and I really had—I would call it—a lot of self-defeating attitudes and behaviors. I always had an excuse. 'Coach doesn't want me in there.'"
"I had a sports psychologist. His name was Greg Harden. I would go into his office every Tuesday, and he would say, 'Tom, I like you. You work hard, but you have a shitty attitude.'"
"'How about you start worrying about what you can control and stop talking about the other quarterbacks, stop talking about the coaches not putting you in.'"
"If they give you three reps, you do the best with the three you get. Quit bitching about you only getting three or you going in there with the backup receivers. No one cares.'"
"'You treat practice like it's a game. If you throw a touchdown in the two-minute in practice, you celebrate like it's the game.'"
Brady never approached it that way before. Then "sure enough" everything changed.
"Mmy energy started getting way better. I was bringing juice; I had the right attitude."
"Then all of a sudden, I'm bringing the juice, man. Every day, boom."
"That [mindshift] really helped me get better."
The road to 7 Super Bowl rings didn't start on the practice field; it started in that very office…
Fascinating implications for perceptual decision-making
Elon Musk just proved every sighted person on Earth is blind.
Your eye captures 0.0035% of the electromagnetic spectrum.
You are not seeing the universe. You are seeing the sliver your biology decided was enough to keep you alive.
That was never vision. That was a survival filter bolted onto your perception four hundred million years ago.
No one has ever removed it.
Musk: “Blindsight will enable those who have total loss of vision to be able to see again. Including if they have lost their eyes, or the optic nerve.”
No eyes. No nerve. The entire optical system physically absent from the skull.
Neuralink does not rebuild what broke.
It routes around biology entirely. It streams synthetic signal straight into the visual cortex.
Your eye never saw anything.
Your brain did.
Your brain sits in total darkness inside a vault of bone.
It has never seen the sun. It has never seen anything.
It builds reality out of whatever electrical signal the eye allows through.
The eye is the bottleneck between your mind and the universe.
Neuralink removes the bottleneck.
Musk: “Maybe have never seen, were even blind from birth.”
A human who has never perceived a single photon of light.
Given sight for the first time.
Not through medicine. Through engineering.
Musk: “You can see in radar, you can see in infrared, ultraviolet.”
Infrared is pouring off every surface in the room around you.
Radio waves are passing through your body right now.
Ultraviolet is painting patterns across everything you have ever looked at.
You cannot see any of it.
Your biology locked you out before you were born.
Musk: “Superhuman capabilities.”
The person born blind would not be restored to human sight.
They would see more of the universe than any sighted person who has ever lived.
The blind would out-see the sighted.
You will not pity them.
You will envy them.
Musk: “Cybernetic enhancement.”
Every human sense is a sensor converting the world into electrical signal.
Replace the sensor and the brain does not care where the signal came from.
It just processes.
Your senses were never built to show you reality. They were built to show you just enough of it to survive.
Evolution built a keyhole. We called it sight.
Elon Musk is not fixing blindness.
He is fixing sight.
