If you're confused about the tariffs -- which ones are suspended? which are in place? what's been changed? -- just bookmark this page. The Bloomberg tariff tracker.

An announcement that is as personal as professional:
18 months ago, we started collecting online prices in real time to track how Liberation Day tariffs were feeding into inflation.
A lot has happened since. The BLS commissioner was fired. The longest government shutdown in US history meant CPI wasn’t published for the first time. And the case for an independent measure of inflation became much stronger.
What started as a tariff inflation tracker has since grown into something much bigger:
The Bloomberg Price Project (BPP), our attempt to build the US CPI from the ground up using alternative data.
Today, BPP covers 87% of the CPI basket, across both goods and services (more new data will be added in coming weeks). Every month, we collect millions of prices from card transactions, e-commerce sites, grocery stores, pharmacies, rental listings, corporate data, Bloomberg Terminal market prices and government records. And more data are coming.
The payoff is detail. Official CPI data let you drill down to categories such as “uncooked beef steaks.” BPP goes much deeper — breaking the CPI basket into almost 700 line items, compared with roughly 200 in the official data.
Brought to you by: myself, Troy Durie, Daniel Ripperger-Suhler, Joshua Danial and Scott Johnson from across Bloomberg Economics.
Explore the Bloomberg Price Project at BECO MODELS BPP <GO>, or download the data at ECAN US BPI <GO>.
I believe the paywall on Bloomberg.com is coming down briefly so you can read this without a subscription (but you should subscribe!)

"Canadian crude shipments are bypassing a pit stop off the California coast and heading straight to Asia as skyrocketing shipping rates make the detour less economical and the nation’s oil producers look to reduce dependence on the US" bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
currently playing on our national broadcaster’s site. yeah no sorry, I don’t think we’d really fit as the 51st state
This is what we published on the Bloomberg Terminal this morning
Canada is destroying itself by allowing millions and millions of people into the Country, essentially unchecked and unvetted, and who are causing problems that will soon be too big to handle. It is a Liberal takeover that will end very badly. Already showing up in their numbers. Big unemployment. ‘Oh Canada! President DJT

New in @semafor: Scott Bessent called Bloomberg’s EIC last year threatening the news org if it published a critical story. He hasn’t appeared on Bloomberg TV since the piece ran.
My piece on the growing tension between the secretary and the usually low drama Treasury press corps

What's happened in Kansas has also happened in parts of Canada, of course. In 2011, Bombardier employed about 65,000 people. Now it's around 20,000 after years of restructuring and the sale of major divisions to save the company financially.
I’m going to fight to keep Bombardier’s over 1,200 Kansas jobs. I’ve already taken that concern inside the Oval Office.
We agree on the mission: bring more good-paying manufacturing jobs back to Wichita. America buys more than half of what Bombardier sells. If that’s the market, more of those planes should be built here. Wichita has one of the nation’s top skilled manufacturing workforces and is a leader in aerospace manufacturing.
I remember when my classmates’ parents worked at Learjet—later Bombardier—when it employed well over 3,000 people. Bombardier is obligated to grow that footprint in Kansas again.

Four journalists from The Times rigorously reported this story, including interviewing 10 people sent from the United States to Africa and obtaining corroborating information about their experiences. The Times sought comment from across the administration, including the Department of Homeland Security, about the claims of these deportees. This reporting presents a fair, thorough and above all accurate portrayal of the testimonies of those deported to Liberia and Equatorial Guinea.
Another day and another hoax about ICE detention from the @nytimes. The media is clearly desperate for these false allegations to be true.
NO ONE is being tortured, denied medical care, or beaten in ICE detention facilities.
Make no mistake: this type of GARBAGE being peddled by the media is fueling the more than 1,300% increase in assaults against our officers, who put their lives on the line every day to arrest violent criminal illegal aliens and protect the lives of American citizens.
The US Treasury excluded journalists from several media outlets, including Bloomberg and the WSJ, from coverage of this week’s G20 finance ministers summit in Asheville, North Carolina.
