Slot time has been decreased to 200ms.
Solana is running at ~200ms since a while.
It was widely thought this was going to cause troubles, but that's not what happened.
We are few hours away from Alpenswitch, so it's useful to recap what happened 👇
Highly recommended read, and brilliant work work by Nick!
interpretability might be the most important scientific problem in the world right now, as I don't think we can solve alignment if we don't know what we're building. I think I have good news about it. I co-authored early work in mechanistic interpretability at OpenAI and came away pessimistic, because neural networks appeared to fold into arbitrary tangled knots. years later, I started openai's first large-scale automated interpretability project, finding about 2% of neurons legible with the primitive tools we had
with modern agentic tools and a much closer look, the picture looks totally different. the vast majority in models up to trillions of parameters are legible, and their circuits beautiful. many famous examples of tangled neurons turned out to be misunderstood. The roadblocks I expected mostly aren't there. I now think ambitious interpretability will be solved by the time we need it most, and possibly quite soon, as automated scientists keep improving. it may be a bitter lesson for interpretability: the simple thing, at absurd scale, works

MEV/Arbitrage have evolved into a professional, institutional-grade form on @solana.
Switching from 400-millisecond blocks to 200-millisecond blocks doesn't change anything for top-players... the network is just faster 🔥
We need more boring financial products on Solana.
The fancier and more novel the instrument, the less likely it is to see real institutional adoption.
Institutions allocate to what they already understand: plain vanilla credit structures, buffered notes, senior CLO tranches, simple yield products with clear risk parameters.
Complexity for its own sake is a feature institutions actively avoid.
Raiku Labs has recently changed its approach in how we are thinking about best use of our core technology. For the near foreseeable future, we will only privately give access to only a small number of enterprise customers (1-3) whom is large enough to drive substantial trading volume on Solana within select markets. Why? Because our core technology is so powerful for financial markets. An edge to everyone means an edge for none.
For the wider market, there is currently one way to participate and see the benefits of what Raiku Labs has been working on, for now that is delegating stake to Raiku. However, there’s something coming which is quite different than anything else you have seen which will enable the wider market to participate and use Raiku core tech and reap the benefits of it, stay tuned.
Raiku client on mainnet (pilot) is now on @doublezero, IBRL through the roof?! Thank you @Austin_Federa
The barrier @degenroot kept coming back to isn't regulation or tech. The question is why an asset manager would move onchain when what they have already works?
The answer is new opportunities made available by bringing tradfi reliability onchain.
I’ll be attending the FT's Future of AI Summit in London on 4-5 November.
Looking forward to connecting with global leaders, investors and policymakers sharing first-hand insights, knowledge and plans for the crucial period ahead.
