anthropic and openai have completely opposite compute strategies
anthropic buys from everyone. $111b with google for TPUs, $110b with amazon for trainium, $31b with microsoft, and ~$135b with neoclouds like spacex, nscale, lambda, and volta
openai bet on doing compute itself. $300b with oracle for stargate, $250b with microsoft, and its own stargate campuses in texas, ohio, and georgia
anthropic signed roughly 3x more neocloud capacity than openai, and around two thirds of its commitments are on non-nvidia chips
anthropic is locked into $450 billion of compute. it has to pay whether it uses it or not
anthropic's revenue is about $70 billion a year. roughly (though contracts change price every year), it's $45 billion a year for a decade. that's most of what they make a year today
the contracts they've signed is a long-term bet that demand for claude keeps growing
in $600B in compute contracts, $450B can't be canceled. the only deal that can be left is @SpaceX (up to $84.5B, with 90 days' notice)
if things don't work out, anthropic's only way out of these deals is renting the gpus to someone else

SpaceX has just officially received FCC approval to acquire three additional spectrum licenses from Tristar to expand its upcoming next-gen @Starlink Mobile network.
The licenses cover 15 MHz of spectrum in the 1695–1710 MHz band.
The FCC also granted waivers allowing SpaceX to use the spectrum for satellite communications instead of building traditional cell towers.
This approval comes just two weeks after SpaceX announced an agreement to acquire nationwide 800 MHz low-band spectrum to improve indoor coverage and outlined plans to combine its satellite constellation with terrestrial infrastructure.
Starlink Mobile will become the first network operator to deploy both satellite and terrestrial spectrum: "One network that provides Americans with a reliable service indoors, outdoors, in cellular dead zones, and everywhere in between."

Elon Musk on Optimus:
“I remain convinced that Optimus will be the biggest product on earth and humanoid robots in general will be the biggest product on earth. There is no one that is even close to Tesla with respect to a general purpose humanoid robot.
We’ve started like what I’d call early production on our high volume line in Fremont. Now I want to elaborate on this point because and I’ve said this before that the growth of Optimus, it’s an S-curve but the initial part of the S-curve has a shallow slope and is somewhat bumpy because it is such a radically new product.
So the way to think about it is there’s like 10,000 things that have to go right for production of the robot and it’ll move as fast as the slowest least likely of the 10,000. But we do have the vast majority of a million unit production line landed in Fremont right now.”

Elon Musk on Optimus:
"We've started early production. The growth of Optimus is an S curve, but the initial curve is a shallow slope. We have the vast majority of the 1 million unit/year line installed at Fremont. There's still some things we need to tweak about the design. There's still quite a lot of work to do with the AI in the robot. I would expect that the AI, the electromechanical design, reliability, usage life, expect these issues to be solved by the end of next year. I remain convinced Optimus will be the biggest product on Earth. I do want to temper expectations that we still have a lot to get through, it will take about a year to get through that."

"We may be ready to release a video in about a month or two. I want to release a video where Optimus is doing things that aren't pre-programmed. A demo that you can believe. Another milestone we want to get to is integrating the AI5 chip in Optimus, which will be in April 2027."
