“memory is a monster” was such a beautiful sentiment before it got twisted to frame louis as a malicious liar. i could cry.

It is possible to love Lestat, understand the plot, and think Rolin failed miserably with several character arcs/storylines. I love these characters, feel invested in the show, and still feel serious disappointment and confusion over many of the choices made.

i think people are overlooking a pretty important part of this whole discussion: the criticism and disappointment surrounding tvl come precisely from a place of love for iwtv and these characters. that attachment and investment can’t be switched off overnight.

this is what i loved about iwtv s1&2. it wasn’t just louis telling his story but also revisiting his memories and figuring out what actually happened. the interview format was a great way to question the reliability of his memories and an important part of the storytelling.
people in Southern Italy can't buy food because diesel is too expensive for truckers to be able to get a living wage out of their job because you decided to start a pointless war in Iran
just one example off the top of my head

and i think this season was a major disservice to lestat's character first and foremost... it's not because we loved other characters more, it's because the writing of EVERY character, every couple, every episode was highkey bad. just bad.
