I just took the bullet train from Hangzhou to Beijing. The Chinese started building the line in 2008, same year as CA project, and finished the 800-mile stretch in 2011. Three years for a distance twice as long as LA to SF!

The train itself was magnificent too. So smooth, even at over 200mph. It's radicalizing to see what's possible when you don't have a state that's been captured by eco-washed graft and corruption.
