On November 7th, 1917, the Bolsheviks seized power Russia, promising “peace, land and bread” to the people. Over the next 74 years the people were starved, killed by death squads, thrown in work camps and gulags, and other things unrelated to “peace, land and bread”.

JOE ROGAN: You read Wired, the book about John Belushi, and something about it really bothered you.
BILL MURRAY: I read about five pages and thought, “Oh my God, they framed Nixon.” If this is what he writes about my friend, someone I’ve known for half my adult life, and it’s completely inaccurate, what the hell did they do to Nixon?
JOE ROGAN: So you felt like the book was getting its story from people outside Belushi’s inner circle?
BILL MURRAY: Absolutely. He was talking to people from the outer, outer circle. And I’m thinking, “Wait a minute. That guy way over there is telling you who John Belushi was?”
JOE ROGAN: But you knew Belushi personally.
BILL MURRAY: I did. And that’s what really opened my eyes. Once you see someone get something completely wrong about a person you actually knew, you start wondering how much of what you read is bullshit.
JOE ROGAN: Belushi obviously meant a lot to you.
BILL MURRAY: He made people’s careers possible. He brought so many of us from Second City to New York. He dragged people along with him. There were musicians who benefited from what he did for the blues. There were people who slept on his couch and stayed at his house until they made it.
JOE ROGAN: And you think the book didn’t capture that side of him?
BILL MURRAY: Not in the five pages I read. There was no balance. No compensation for who he really was. It felt like exploitation of his death.
JOE ROGAN: And that’s the problem with narratives like that. Once the book becomes the story, that’s what everyone remembers.
BILL MURRAY: Exactly. John was complicated. He died in a terrible way, but when he was on stage, he was the best stage actor I ever saw. You couldn’t take your eyes off him.
JOE ROGAN: That’s a completely different picture of Belushi than the one people usually get.
BILL MURRAY: And that’s my problem. If someone gets something so wrong about a person I knew, it makes me question everything else they’re telling me.

Bill Maher and Coleman Hughes finish each other's sentences for 3 minutes straight as they lay out how teachers' unions wrecked public education.
The MS NOW host thought she could sit this one out quietly. Then Maher turned and lobbed a grenade right at her.
MAHER: "The reason why they don't know that socialism didn't work... is because NOBODY taught them in school."
HUGHES: "A lot of kids go to underperforming public schools, which is our euphemism for government-funded daycare centers with occasional school-like activities."
MAHER: "I knew they weren't learning anything, but like you said, it's like a daycare center and not a good one."
HUGHES: "And I think people on the left want to blame funding because that's the easy issue. But the truth is, this school was well funded. You know, it's 50,000 per pupil at this school. The problem isn't the funding. It's that you can't fire anyone bad."
MAHER: "Yes.... The problem is the union, the teachers union, is too powerful. We've seen it in results in states where the union is less powerful, the schools do better."
HUGHES: "I call it the chalkboard mafia."
MAHER: "The problem, the unions protect bad schools and bad teachers, and the party protects the union. It's almost impossible in a lot of these cities to fire a teacher. I mean literally like you could sell drugs to a kid and it's got to be two offenses before we get—"
HUGHES: "It wasn't that long ago that the unions lobbied for a law in New York State to ban even collecting data that you would use to assess which teachers are better than others. You can't even get the data. So obviously the teachers union serves the teachers, they don't serve the students, and if you're a Democrat or any American that's serious about public school reform, you have to challenge the teachers union, period."
MAHER: "And I think in this school, where they were learning nothing with no supervision and absentee principals and teachers, I think spending 50,000 dollars per year per student, it's not money. That's what you always hear from the left. 'Oh, it's underfunded.' It's not the funding. The funding isn't the issue."
HUGHES: "No, it hasn't been for a very long time."
MAHER: "I think this is the kind of thing I will NEVER hear on MS NOW."
ALI VITALI: "I think you hear a lot of perspectives on MS NOW."
MAHER: "I don't ever hear that one."
CONTEXT: Maher and Hughes aren't making this up. On the latest Nation's Report Card, high school seniors posted the lowest reading and math scores ever recorded on the test.
And getting rid of bad teachers is nearly impossible. Federal survey data shows the average school district dismissed just 0.2 tenured teachers for poor performance in a year. That's roughly 1 in 500.
Meanwhile, students do better long-term in states where unions have less power.
A 2019 study in the American Economic Journal found that boys who went to school in states that forced districts to bargain with teachers' unions went on to earn about $2,100 LESS per year as adults compared to boys in states without those laws.
If a business failed this badly, someone would get fired. As Hughes put it: "The teachers union serves the teachers; they don't serve the students."

Recent NABU actions in Ukraine include completing the Midas probe into over $111 million in energy-sector kickbacks linked to associates of Zelenskyy (his former business partner Mindich fled; ex-chief of staff Yermak faces related charges; Zelenskyy himself is not accused). Separately, Operation Carthage has led to suspicion notices against senior SBU and police officials for protecting a criminal network running fraudulent call centers, drugs, and other crimes. These probes are increasing political pressure amid the ongoing war.

Exactly! Why would anyone want to have a vacation there given what it has become with all the Muslim immigrants?

These wage numbers take into account the reductions in the federal work force -- so the growth is even better than reflected.
If you go back to Biden Admin numbers -- even after they were corrected -- most job growth was in sectors that required Govt funding, i.e., state and local govt and health care.
The bureaucratic state expanded to deal with the trillions in federal spending being sent down the pipeline, and rapidly expanding Medicaid created a demand for medical services in the most inefficient ways imaginable.
The Trump Admin is rolled much of that back, reduced public sector employment, and yet is still producing job growth in the private sector.
That's how economic recovery with rising wages takes hold.
US JOBS REPORT SMASHES EXPECTATIONS
US employers added 165,000 jobs in October, nearly triple the 59,000 expected.
🔸 Nonfarm payrolls: +165K vs. +59K expected
🔸 Unemployment: 4.1% vs. 4.2% expected
🔸 Private payrolls: +159K
🔸 Wage growth: +0.37% monthly, +3.12% annually
🔸 September payrolls revised: +60K

It's appalling that the victory of one party or another means that a private citizen and his businesses, none of which have been accused of breaking the law, would suddenly be targeted by the government. That's pure Third World and should outrage everyone. latimes.com/business/story/2…
“Blue states have refused to be transparent with the current state of their Voter File, and whether they knowingly have non-citizens listed as registered voters. DOJ CRD is entirely justified in exploring all kinds of different ways to get access to them.”
ENOUGH about the 27 "defeats" in seeking election records.
That was all a planned effort -- the cases need to get to the Supreme Court.
There is a federal statute that requires states to keep election records for 22 months, and allow federal officials to inspect them.
But the language of the statute is odd. It refers to records that "come into the possession" of state election officials.
What DOJ has sought are the state "Voter Files." That is the electronic database states create from the registration submissions made by persons when they register.
Because the Voter File is something state officials create themselves, Courts have held it is not a record that "comes into the possession" of state officials.
DOJ could simply ask for the registration paperwork that new registrants submit, but then it would need to assemble entire voting data bases itself, not knowing if its database matched the state's Voter File.
This is far from a meritless effort. The fact that Judges -- who are now relying on each other's analysis -- have adopted a technical reading of the precise nature of documents covered by the statute (whether Congress intended to be so restrictive or not) isn't a basis to declare what DOJ CRD has done to be illegitimate.
