1. Open Google trends. Search this:

We now have a clear picture of how Muse decides which products and services to recommend.
This is going to open up a new revenue channel for businesses across e-commerce, SaaS and local services.
This week a bunch of Muse’s operating instructions and internal files were extracted, and there is a big takeaway for businesses trying to show up in AI search.
Muse can search the open web AND Meta content across Instagram, Facebook and Threads - which creates two very different discovery surfaces.
Let’s go through it.

First, some context.
Researchers extracted Muse instructions and internal files through the normal chat interface.
Meta has said those files were intended to be accessible, take that for what it's worth. They say this isn't a "leak" - but the captured search instructions are unusually specific.
First, Muse has an open-web search tool. It also has a semantic content search across Instagram, Facebook and Threads.
The prompt tells Muse to use that social search for things like restaurants, cafes, shops, gyms and salons, fashion and beauty, public opinion, product recommendations, shopping advice and other queries where social content could improve the answer.
And if a question meets the criteria for both web search and Meta content search, Muse is instructed to use both.
That matters for brands, because you may be competing for visibility in the traditional web results Muse can search AND inside Meta’s own content ecosystem.
The social-search tool gets even more interesting.
Its captured instructions expose three ranking modes:
Informational.
Engagement.
Recency.
For reviews, comparisons, recommendations and “best X” queries, the engagement mode can rank posts using signals such as likes, shares and author follows.
This is exactly what SEO Stuff (seo-stuff.com/ai-seo) does for brands on a daily basis.
Mind you, that does NOT mean likes are a universal Muse ranking factor - it just means engagement is explicitly part of one retrieval mode inside Meta’s social-content search.
The tool also says its index is built using content understanding, including captions, visual analysis and transcripts, so this is not simply keyword matching.
Meta’s own public announcements support the broader direction too. Meta says Muse-powered experiences can surface recommendations and content shared across Instagram, Facebook and Threads, and that shopping mode draws from creators, communities and brand content across its apps.
For businesses, the AI-search playbook is getting wider.
Your website still needs clear, crawlable pages around your products, services, locations, comparisons and buyer questions.
Your broader web presence still matters because Muse can search the open web.
But inside Meta’s ecosystem, your Instagram, Facebook and Threads content may become another discovery surface entirely.
Clear category language matters, useful social content matters and freshness matters.
And for some recommendation queries, engagement may matter too.
That is a very different kind of AI search optimization.

You can now block crawlers from using your content for AI training *without* completely blocking those crawlers from Search.
If you want to continue showing up in ChatGPT, Claude, Google's AI family, etc - pay attention.
Some site owners are going to misunderstand what is happening and play this wrong
Cloudflare just made an important change to its AI crawler controls.
A few weeks ago I wrote about the problem with blocking AI crawlers.
Basically, some companies use the same crawler for both Search and AI training, which meant blocking training could also mean blocking the crawler helping customers find you.
Cloudflare introduced a new setting designed specifically around that problem: it is called Disallow AI Training.
Let’s go through it.

Cloudflare now lets website owners tell supported crawlers not to use their content for AI training without completely blocking those crawlers from Search.
Applebot, Googlebot and Bingbot are what Cloudflare calls mixed-use crawlers because the same crawler infrastructure can serve multiple purposes.
With the new setting, Cloudflare publishes the appropriate no-training preference in robots.txt while continuing to allow what it calls “Accountable” crawlers to access the site for Search.
Cloudflare says Apple, Google and Microsoft currently qualify as Accountable.
For OpenAI, Anthropic, Amazon and Meta, Cloudflare says Search and Training already use separate crawlers, so it can block the training crawler without blocking the Search crawler.
There is one very important warning: do not confuse Disallow AI Training with Block.
Cloudflare changed what Block means.
If you select Block for Training, mixed-use crawlers including Googlebot, Bingbot and Applebot can now be blocked completely, including their Search access.
If you want Search access to remain, Cloudflare says to use Disallow AI Training instead.
Worth keeping in mind - Google-Extended can be disallowed without affecting Google Search rankings, but Google says that control also affects whether your content can be used for grounding in Gemini Apps.
And Bing does not yet support Cloudflare's new robots.txt no-training preference automatically. Microsoft says that support is targeted for early 2027.
So this still is not a giant “turn off AI training with zero tradeoffs everywhere” button, but it is a big improvement.
Businesses can increasingly make separate decisions about traditional Search, AI training, AI agents and, eventually, AI summaries.
That is the direction this needed to go.
For most businesses, the goal shouldn't be to blindly block every AI crawler so much as it should be to understand which systems create discovery, which ones help customers take action, and which ones are simply using your content for training.
If you don't know how to make sure you're handling this correctly, SEO Stuff (seo-stuff.com) can help.

I spent years helping build someone else's dream.
While putting my own on hold.
And I didn't even realize I was doing it:
What bothered me most wasn't the work.
It was knowing that no matter how hard I worked, someone else made the decisions about my income, my time, and my future.
And for the longest time, I thought starting something of my own meant taking some huge risk.
Quitting my job. Spending thousands of dollars. Coming up with some brilliant idea nobody had thought of.
I couldn't have been more wrong.
The biggest thing I learned? You don't have to leave your job to start building your way out.
You can start with what you already know.
A problem you've solved. A skill you've learned. Something people already come to you for help with.
That's where I started. I built things, made mistakes, learned what people wanted, and eventually started sharing what I knew on social media.
Some things worked. Plenty didn't.
But I kept learning.
I made this infographic to show you how simple those first steps can be.
Save it. Try the four steps. Start with ONE problem you know how to solve.

90% of strategies fail. Why?
Because pieces don’t fit together.
Here is how to build a strategy delivering results:
A healthy business strategy is like a pyramid:
Each layer supports the next.
Miss one, and the whole thing wobbles.
Sharing the blueprint that works:
1. Vision
What’s your business aspiration?
This is your ultimate “why”.
The future you’re aiming for.
2. Mission
Why does your company exist?
What did the founders envision?
This is your reason for getting out of bed every morning.
3. Strategy
What’s your long-term roadmap?
This is how you’ll reach your objectives, step by step.
4. Objectives
What do you aim to achieve?
Clear, measurable results that keep everyone focused.
5. Approach
What’s your methodology?
The practical way you’ll execute the strategy.
6. Tactics
What are your focused action plans?
Smaller, targeted moves that support the big picture.
What’s the key?
A) Every layer matters.
B) Vision inspires.
C) Mission grounds.
D) Strategy guides.
E) Objectives clarify.
F) Approach organizes.
G) Tactics deliver.
If your business strategy covers all six layers...
Your team aligns.
Your actions compound.
Your business thrives.
P.S. Which layer needs your attention right now?

J.R.R. Tolkien explains why he spent years building Middle-earth before writing The Lord of the Rings.
In a rare interview, Tolkien is asked why he devoted more than a decade to creating the world behind his stories before writing them.
He rejects the idea that Middle-earth emerged purely from his unconscious, describing himself instead as “a meticulous sort of bloke” who spent years working out timelines, languages, histories, customs, and genealogies until everything fit together.
For Tolkien, the world existed before the story.
He even says The Hobbit began almost by accident, explaining that the larger mythology was already in place and that the novel simply became absorbed into it.
When asked why anyone would build an entire fictional world before telling a story, Tolkien points to what he calls “subcreation.”
As creations of a Creator, he argues, humans naturally desire to create. Since we cannot create something from nothing, we instead reshape existing reality into new forms that are both imaginative and aesthetically satisfying.
Tolkien also rejects the idea that art should be driven solely by moral purpose, insisting that beauty and aesthetics are just as fundamental to human creativity.
Discussing good and evil, he explains that Sauron was not evil from the beginning but fell from grace, much like Lucifer. The One Ring, he says, symbolizes a power so absolute that even someone with good intentions would inevitably be corrupted by wielding it.
He adds that this idea long predates the atomic age, noting that the foundations of his mythology were developed while he was still an undergraduate, not as an allegory for modern events.
At the end of the interview, Tolkien is asked whether he would rather be remembered for what he said or for what he made. He dismisses the distinction, arguing that lasting creations endure precisely because they have something meaningful to say.

Vitalik Buterin's Two-Part Test For Blockchain Applications
Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin explains how he decides whether an application actually belongs on a blockchain.
Asked what kinds of applications Ethereum is well suited for, both the ones people are building today and ones in the future, @VitalikButerin says the answer falls into a few major categories, starting with the most obvious:
"Anything to do with like currency itself is obviously going to be a major category pretty much forever because you want the security associated."
But rather than listing use cases, Vitalik works from first principles. To know what makes a good blockchain application, start with what a blockchain actually is:
"The way I define a blockchain is it's a decentralized system that contains some kind of shared memory."
In Bitcoin's case, the shared memory is how many bitcoins everyone has at any given time. But it could be anything.
From that definition, his test follows:
"A good blockchain application is an application that number one needs decentralization and number two needs some concept of shared memory."
For cryptocurrencies themselves, Vitalik thinks the case for decentralization is fairly clear. But the framework points beyond currency:
"If you have decentralized cryptocurrencies, then you can build many other things on top of them."

Elon Musk on how Neuralink goes from restoring abilities to giving humans superpowers:
Elon explains that human communication is fundamentally bandwidth-limited. There's a ceiling on how many symbols a person can output per day.
"It is extremely rare for a human to output more than that number of symbols per day, certainly for several days in a row. With a Neuralink interface, you can massively increase your output bandwidth and your input bandwidth."
The technology is already changing lives. Five humans have now received the "read" implant, which reads signals from the brain:
"You've got people with ALS who really have no... they're tetraplegics but they can now communicate at similar bandwidth to a human with a fully functioning body, and control their computer and phone."
The next frontier is vision:
"I think in the next 6 to 12 months we'll be doing our first implants for vision, where even if somebody's completely blind, we can write directly to the visual cortex."
This isn't speculative, it's already working in animals. One of Neuralink's monkeys has had a visual implant for 3 years.
And the long-term vision goes far beyond restoring sight:
"At first it'll be relatively low resolution, but long term you would have very high resolution and be able to see multispectral wavelengths. You could see infrared, ultraviolet, radar. It's like a superpower situation."
@elonmusk frames the bigger arc of the technology like this:
"At some point the cybernetic implants would not simply be correcting things that went wrong, but augmenting human capabilities. Dramatically augmenting intelligence and senses and bandwidth. That's going to happen at some point."
But he's clear on the sequencing:
"Digital superintelligence will happen well before that. At least if we have a Neuralink, we might be able to appreciate the AI better."

90% of the things that hurt your feelings
had nothing to do with you:
Someone snaps at you in a meeting.
A friend goes quiet out of nowhere.
Your boss gives feedback that stings.
And your first thought is, "What did I do wrong?"
Probably nothing.
That person was stressed. Tired. Carrying something you know nothing about.
But you took it home with you.
Replayed it.
Lost sleep over it.
Made it yours when it never was.
I used to do this constantly.
One sideways comment and I would carry it for days.
Not because I was weak.
Because I had no system for deciding what was mine to carry and what was not.
So I started running everything through six questions before I respond to anything that feels personal.
1. Can I separate myself from this?
2. Am I hearing or reacting?
3. What was their actual intent?
4. Is this really about me?
5. Can I release this?
6. What response serves me best?
That is my SHIELD method in the infographic.
And it works because it slows you down just enough to choose.
The goal is not to stop feeling.
The goal is to stop letting someone else's bad morning become your bad afternoon (and sometimes bad week when we let it).
The strongest people I know are not the ones who always have the perfect comeback.
They are the ones who never needed one.
