When an intern calls you for a new consult, why be rude when you could just be nice 😬😬

The longer the note in the EMR the less people will read. If you care about communicating your recommendations as a consultant, remove as much EMR generated bull shit as you can.

As July 1st approaches just a friendly reminder that when people are calling for a consult it is b/c they need your help. So help them. Teach them. And be kind, interns have it hard enough. #medtwitter #MedEd

If someone is speaking to you in a foreign accent they are smart enough to know at least 2 languages - and were brave enough to do their job in their second. It’s so easy to condescend, assume and patronise when all they deserve is your respect and your humility

#TipsForNewDocs Sick pts may need multiple docs, but pts/families need one message. Whether you're primary or consultant, talk to each other about the plan before talking to the pt. Debate amongst yourselves, NOT to the pt/family. #kittlesonrules PS- Happy New Year!

Excited to share three new ICU #OnePagers on a couple important critical care topics: acid base, arterial lines, and EVDs. Lots of nerdy fun here including Winter's formula, Lundberg waves, and pulsus alternans. Also an updated version of the ARDS OnePager. #FOAMed #FOAMcc

For programs out there on #MedTwitter stressing about the virtual interview season: pretend that Step 1 has already transitioned to P/F. Now choose applicants for interviews based on qualities that actually make for great physicians in your specialty. This year more than ever!

Residents- if a colleague seems especially exhausted, down, or out of sorts in general, reach out. Ask if they are ok, if they need someone to talk to. Ask how you can help. Saving a colleague is just as important as saving a patient. We are all in this together. #meded #gme

#TipsForNewDocs Patient with HFrEF EF 20% and severe TR. Wrong: Can't trust JVP in severe TR. Right: Diurese and monitor JVP- as volume status improves, so will TR. Regurgitant lesions are often dynamic- don't discount impact of diuresis until you try! #kittlesonrules

Friends I’d like to conduct an experiment to show the reach of Twitter as I teach the power of social media to trainees. Could you humor me and RT this just to see how many people we can reach in 24 hours? It’s Sat, 5PM central time in the US. Make me look good plz

As 4th of July holiday starts I want to ask everyone to #WearADamnMask and, politely but firmly, ask those who are not to do so. #COVIDー19 cases are surging in the US with > 50,000 Dx daily and hospitals are starting to fill up. If you get sick there may not be a bed for you!

This short review involves two of my favorite things: timely and informed care of patients with cirrhosis, and brothers-in-law. Great work Zach Sherman et al! @cornellcmr @StephVSherman @BCM_InternalMed Open access: aasldpubs.onlinelibrary.wile…

Suggestion: Instead of spending 15 minutes grilling the overnight admitting resident on parts of the patient’s history she didn’t ask about at 2am, spend those 15 minutes at the bedside so the resident learns by example and the patient can fill the team in. Win-win, right?
