Notice how with every hype cycle, it's the experts in the corresponding field who are questioning the validity and importance of overly exaggerated results by AI labs. A consistent pattern it seems.
I work in CRISPR discovery research. This is one of the most exaggerated nothing-burgers ever and would be laughed out of the room if a human scientist attempted to publish something like this. (cont.)

My defense against being replaced by AI is to be illogical.

You shouldn’t turn to the AP style guide for your takes about AI consciousness, agency, reasoning ability, or anthropomorphism. You should turn to the controversial philosophers on those subject whose views I subscribe to.

If you are discussing AI and use the word conscious or consciousness, please define it. Also, please acknowledge that neither neuroscience nor philosophy has been able to define it.

The only reaction you should have to the Somalia welfare fraud story is “we should strengthen watchdog institutions in state/municipal government”

Stories of horror from those who escaped the city of El Fasher. According to this one testimony a Srebrenica-scenario is taking place in the city where the RSF let women and children go, but took the men away. Thousands of people are estimated to have been slaughtered. Sudan 🇸🇩
النسخة العربية أدناه 👇 Escaping El Fasher: A survivor’s tale Hayat Yaqoub Hussein, a survivor of the El Fasher battles, tells Ayin about the first moments of the attack by the Rapid Support Forces on El Fasher after arriving with dozens of displaced people in the Tawila area. It was another morning in restive El Fasher where Hayat was preparing tea for her family when the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) raided their neighbourhood. Hayat and her family were accustomed to the siege on the capital city of El Fasher that lasted over 16 months, where shelling around their home took place on a daily basis. But Hayat and her family were not prepared for the RSF raid. "When I tried to leave the trench to see what was happening, I saw a number of Rapid Support Forces. They broke through the house's courtyard and entered in combat vehicles mounted with 23-calibre machine guns. At that point, I told my children, 'Get up and let's get out of here. These people don't belong to the army,'" Hayat says. "My 18-year-old son was killed after being hit by a mortar shell. I left his body, as well as my injured husband, of whom I now know nothing." From there Hayat and her children started the arduous journey to Tawila, where dead bodies from past attacks, along with the present, littered the streets. Hear Hayat’s exclusive story here.

Mamdani has never referred to himself as "working class." He's 100% a post-colonial elite, a standing that either makes people angry and desperate to be accepted by Anglo-American elites, or, enables insight into how society works and makes people more moral and civilized.
How’s a so-called “working class” mayoral candidate like Zohran Mamdani eating at OMEN SUSHI tonight — one of the priciest joints in NYC? 🍣💰 This clown lives in a rent-stabilized apartment in Queens but dines like a diplomat on a Qatar-funded per diem. Who’s paying for that toro, “Zoron the Moron”? You ain’t working class — you’re fraud class. #ZohranMamdani #ZoronTheMoron

In the Trump era, the basis of rightism is, increasingly, that the good things about Western civilization—well-funded public goods, free markets, trade, rule of law, civil rights, etc.—are gay fem-coded bullshit and need to be replaced with Third World-style patronage networks
The basis of rightism is that our civilisation is good and should be conserved The basis of leftism is that white people should all be raped and massacred like October 7 for the sins of colonialism

Ran out of the 400 flyers I printed in the first hour, you would be amazed how many people explicitly went there looking for something more radical
Gonna go flyer the no kings attendees with communist & pro-Palestine materials to see if anyone there is lost

NEW: There is a kind of bigotry that comes from a genuine Nietzschean feeling of superiority, but the most common bigotry we're encountering today is cope for feeling like a loser. peoplesline.org/p/loser-supr…
