Tonight if anything reaffirms what I see in my friends and colleagues in the States. They are a great people who care. So good to see them wrestle control of that narrative back.

What a heartbreaking week it has been. Sir Patrick Stewart was a friend, a colleague, and a magnificent actor. From the stage to the bridge of the Enterprise, he brought intelligence, grace, and a deep sense of humanity to everything he did. Captain Picard stood for the best of us, and so did the man who played him. I was filled with affection and admiration for him and his work.
My heart goes out to Sunny and his family. He will be deeply missed.
Seeing medivac air traffic in and out of Wainwright still on Flightradar24. My thoughts are with all those affected. I fear tough news in the morning.
Defence Minister David McGuinty provides an update on the situation at CFB Wainwright in Alberta, confirming that "there have been both fatalities and injuries as a result of an incident on the base."

@pointfreeco's series on advanced macro techniques wraps up with part 2: type inference. A great read for Swift macro authors. Check it out at pointfree.co/blog/posts/233-…

Talking to my son about my job in the AI world. I create tools that humans will like to use. And that agents can easily figure out. The new world of a tools developer. It all still matters.

Swift networking is heading in a much more ambitious direction than “one API over URLSession and AsyncHTTPClient.”
The Swift Networking Workgroup’s latest meeting notes say there was strong consensus to prioritize a native, top-to-bottom Swift networking stack.
Why build another stack?
Control.
A native implementation can give Swift direct control over performance, behavior, allocations and code size instead of treating platform networking libraries as black boxes.
The interesting part is that they are not ignoring today’s reality. The immediate direction is to design an abstract HTTP API that can work with existing backends, but shape it so a future high-performance native implementation is not constrained by those backends.
They are also discussing contribution standards that track allocations, instructions and code-size regressions from the start.
Nothing here is a shipped API yet. But it is a meaningful architectural direction for cross-platform Swift: networking as Swift infrastructure, not just a wrapper around whatever each platform already provides.

A framework is an intelligence cache.
You could waste tokens reinventing the ORM, cache, queues, auth, routing, etc, or you could just pick a world-class framework.

Been a great summer planning expansion of Swift packages to better support Swift language interoperability and building something fun. forums.swift.org/t/expanding…
I guess we should have made a bigger deal than we did when we introduced content assist.
It's pencils down, people. Writing code by hand is no longer an economically viable skill for most programmers at most companies. But the future of making software has never been brighter. Don't you dare black pill this beautiful moment! youtu.be/vDjW_dRyKXY?si=6Fsf…
