If you flew Singapore Airlines, Japan Airlines, ANA, Korean Air, Asiana or Cathay Pacific in the last three years, someone may have read your booking. These airlines use Amadeus for reservation services. Singapore Airlines says about 46,000 booking records may have been affected. Its own IT systems weren't breached. The exposure happened at its provider. Customers of different airlines had their information exposed through the same company. What if the booking system ran on #Holochain? Holochain allows applications to work through records held by their participants, without a central database containing the whole application's history. Each participant keeps a signed history, and computers in the network check shared records against the app's rules. A reservation system can be built around passengers and airlines exchanging the information they need, without putting different airlines' booking histories into one shared central store. That removes the need for the common collection point involved in this breach. App bugs and stolen credentials would still be risks. But collecting so many people's records behind one provider is a design choice, and Holochain gives us another way to build. #WhatIfItRanOnHolochain #1

Week 1 of getting a million people on #Holochain. I'm trying to get the world to know a technology that solves what blockchain couldn't. Almost nobody has heard of it, and I'd like to change that in public, one week at a time. It's called Holochain. With blockchain, every computer has to agree on the same ledger. That works for money but it's a bad fit for the apps we use every day. On Holochain you keep your own signed records and other people check them. Nobody holds everyone's data in one place, so there's no single vault to break into. A million is a lot when almost nobody knows the name. People have to hear about it before they can use it, so the number I'll watch every week is Google Trends. Interest in Holochain is at 2 right now. In April 2021, when crypto was going to the moon, it reached 100. I want to go past that, and this time without a bull run doing the work. I won't post the user count every week.
