This is Lanning talking about Moore's situation.
Dan Lanning just said he expects Oregon QB Dante Moore to miss the rest of the season.
Let's talk about it right now on YouTube...

The most frustrating thing about Oregon's season is that each of its last two teams would be the best in college football right now. This team was supposed to be as good — if not better— and it's already been eliminated from the CFP.

If you cover a team - a Coordinator Hot board is a thing. Will talk to some contacts later today to get more details, but this hot board is just a breakdown of the most discussed names for Oregon’s offensive coordinator opening, weighing who fits Dan Lanning’s vision, and who has a realistic chance to land the job.

Dan deserved the benefit of the doubt on the last OC hire. He’s lost it now and I’m sure he knows it most of all.

I have a major unpopular opinion. Before you crucify me, yes Drew needed to be fired without a doubt and this was the game you do it.
After watching the film against Illinois this is the third week in a row where QB play has been atrocious. I don’t know if thats Drew and staff failing to teach these kids when they install the plan, or if its the players, or if it’s the QB coach, or what. It’s been OL and QB issues for several weeks now. OL finally had a good day, and QB was all over the map. Is that play design and OC? Plays a part but every play is different.
At this point the dysfunction had gotten to be too much and he needed to go before you lose the locker room. But I have to imagine if Dante was out there that this would not have happened this way. At least not mid season.
My unpopular opinion is that he was scapegoated. I think it needed to happen because a place like Oregon shouldn’t have gambled on that position. You need the best in the country if you’re trying to win a championship and have the $ investment that you do. You cannot gamble. That’s why he wasn’t the guy. Was the offense awful? Yeah. But don’t be shocked if it doesn’t magically get fixed next week. He was part of the problem I doubt he was THE ONLY problem.
This needed to happen to not lose the locker room and the player’s faith in the staff. You can’t preach accountability without having backing behind it. Unfortunately, that’s the way the dice roll. We’ll see what comes of it, but as fans we all need to chillout and let them hire the best possible candidate this off season because this year is not going to get better, at least not in a meaningful way. Again don’t expect the offense to get a whole lot better and don’t immediately call for the interim OCs head next game. It’s very possible that it’s going to be bad until there are new faces in the building.

One terrible night of sleep later, and here’s where I’m at:
- The play-calling was atrocious. Abandoning the run after the first drive is fireable in itself. Why is Dan not screaming into the headset to run the ball? Total failure.
- The game was lost in the first half. You kept Illinois in it by playing with your food on offense, defense makes one mistake and Illinois believes.
- Raiola is thr worst for a OC that is already struggling. Half the time that Drew actually schemes something well, Raiola misses it. Horrible footwork combined with fear is not a good combo. We’ve clearly coached him to be a check down Charlie and avoid any mistake. Our ability to have made him worse is something. Raiola’s worst game at Nebraska would have beaten UCLA and Illinois
- Dan is clearly not the same guy as the last few years. His mentality, and the mentality of the team is different. It’s somehow a combination of arrogance and fear. We aren’t coaching aggressively anymore, we make dumb mistakes, we aren’t well coached. No urgency, WRs run wrong routes, false starts at the biggest moments.
- Defense allowed 3 full 70+ drives. Frustrating. The long run was just BAD S play. Can’t happen. Changed the game. Letting Illinois come out after half and literally run the ball down your throat is gross. Seemed like a broken team that lost its fight then. They’ve carried the offense for two weeks, hard to blame them. It’s too bad because if we just convert and get it to 17-14, I’d have full confidence we get a stop and win.
- We better buck up snd display the culture consistently talked about. Show us how great it is and finish 8-4. I completely disagree that the season is over, there’s a huge difference between 5-7/6-6 and 8-4. Great programs have shitty luck seasons with QB injuries and they cobble together 8-4/9-3. Georgia, Ohio State etc never go 6-6. Gotta have some pride as players and our coaches need to find a way.
Go Ducks Always

*SMALL* Glass Half Full Opinion
If Dante doesn’t get hurt, he papers over a broken offense staff/system. We go 10-2, lose in playoffs and 2027 is doomed. We may even not learn Raiola isn’t the guy.
Once we decided to promote Drew, roll with this offensive staff, and OL, we never could win a title. That’s brutal, but the reality.
Now, 2027 slate is clean. New OC, new offensive staff and new QB that’s not on campus now. Nail that stuff, and we’re back in business.
A small silver lining I suppose 🦆
