In Israel, we vote with a slip that has a 1, 2, or 3 letter sequence identifying each party. They don’t necessarily spell a word or anything to do either the party name. The system was designed in 1948 for a nation of immigrants who couldn’t necessarily read Hebrew but knew the alphabet.
