Migration is a European challenge that requires a European response. We must strengthen the implementation of our comprehensive approach by: - building partnerships with countries of origin and transit, - ⁠fighting organised crime and smuggling, - ⁠better controlling our borders, - ⁠developing effective return policies, - ⁠and promoting legal pathways for a well-managed system. #EUCO

The European Council held an extensive exchange of views on Russia’s war against Ukraine. We reiterated our support for a comprehensive, just and lasting peace based on the principles of the UN Charter. The EU will stand by Ukraine for as long as it takes.
