in a city that is just one flood away from catastrophe, this stunt by the republicans on commissioners court is unconscionable.
the choice is clear: vote @LinaHidalgoTX, @LesleyBrionesTX, + @AdrianGarciaHTX
Harris County will eliminate 500+ vacant jobs, delay some flood control projects and cancel raises and cost of living adjustments for county law enforcement following the default to a lower tax rate forced by the GOP boycott.

Really excited to read this new book from my old friend @riconuila, a doctor who wrote about the publicly funded hospital in Houston where he’s worked for a decade & how it can be a model in a state and country where tens of millions are locked out of health care.

This post is a great example of how investing in #CancerResearch can help us tackle major #GlobalHealth threats, like #HIV/#AIDS, that go beyond cancer itself. And another reason why the #NationalCancerAct of 1971 was so important. #NothingWillStopUs

Why is it so important to sequence the virus that induced "breakthrough" infections post-vaccination?
20 cases sequenced.

Not all masks are equally protective. Better masks will be important, particularly if more contagious strains of Covid spread widely. That means N95/KN95 masks when indoors around others, rather than fabric masks. Defense Production Act can help increase supply.

Germany considers requiring people to wear P2/FFP2/N95 respirators rather than ordinary surgical masks.
Provided healthcare workers have adequate supply & people can obtain comfortable masks with an adequate fit, I think it’s a good idea.

1) If we want to generate difficult viral escape mutants in the lab (e.g. for epitope mapping), we subject the virus to low antibody pressure and then slowly move up. A little bit like after one vaccine dose. I think it would be good to give the second dose as soon as possible.
