Hi. I'm Edd, I imagine stuff. Senior UI Engineer, stone carver, city walker. Maker of side projects. Fan of sea shanties. He/him

Shared an idea with a friend the other day and he said "if you draw a #pixelart cow and send it to me, then I'm onboard." So I guess I'm making a game about cows now.

“Better to talk to people than communicate via tweet” is Twitter’s new slogan
Based on your comment, I just did a videocall with Halli to figure out what’s real vs what I was told. It’s a long story. Better to talk to people than communicate via tweet.

I love the idea that in 5 years time we're all going to be saying "wow my company has this cool coworking space where I can go and meet like minded people working on the same stuff as me, and it's free to go sit there for the entire day!" and we'll just quietly reinvent offices
I made a suggestion to vscode to prompt users before they commit their node_modules folder, after having untangled a friend's repo when they got lost in their own codebase. so if you maybe agree that this might be useful, give it a vote: github.com/microsoft/vscode/…

I generally agree this could be placed at a number of other places as well so it could benefit everyone, but there are undoubtedly some teams who literally do want to commit node_modules, and rejecting in the upstream would be much to invasive.

Version control software is maybe the natural place to provide guidance, and whilst there's a fine line between being helpful vs opinionated, having just experienced the foul end of someone not understanding why they shouldn't commit ALL their files, this feels like a good start
OK... @skullcandy is it charging yet?

You don't know how your changes are going to affect someone using your product. But if you don't make a start you will never make a positive impact
