Medical care India indeed has best of two worlds for the fortunate. Modern medicine and radiology in the hands of capable doctors on one hand, and a respectful attitude steeped in atiti devo bhava culture, particularly towards elderly people (1/4)

We saw the Young Turks ad, and we have a few things to say. First, blaming the cost of groceries on aid to Israel is an egregious distortion of how the federal budget works. Second, it’s cynical to pin this ad on El-Sayed when his campaign had nothing to do with it – or to inflate the controversy for political gain when the ad itself was made in 2024 and has next to no real promotional budget behind it. Third, and most importantly, Michigan voters deserve an honest conversation about rising costs and an honest conversation about US policy towards the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. They don't need misleading ads that exploit very real economic frustrations to push dishonest messaging about the US-Israel relationship, or fake controversies about those ads. nytimes.com/2026/10/26/us/mi…

The lesson here is that when you have large amounts of WindWaterSolar (mostly wind, solar but also geothermal, and existing hydro) on a grid, you --match demand with supply better than a base load plant and -- provide base-load electricity that can exceed that of the base-load plant.
The claim nuclear is more reliable than renewables is a myth. WindWaterSolar has not only met a higher percent (12.8%) of demand during its worst 5 minutes in all of 2026 than nuclear during its best 5 minutes (12.0%), but has also met seasonal & daily demand better than nuclear from 2023-26 on the @CaliforniaISO grid. WWS output (left) is predictably consistent all year, peaking in early summer close to demand (late summer) Nuclear output is flat most of the year (not following demand). The rest of the year (1-2 months), it decreases by 50%. P.S., WWS' peak 5-minute output in 2026 is 165% of demand, or 13.75 times that of nuclear's peak output vs demand (12.0%).

It’s rare to be given a second chance this quickly in politics. Exceedingly rare. From the celebratory dancing it’s clear no one has learned the obvious lesson from 2024. The Latino political class is so far behind the Latino working class. Sigh.
As turnout in Texas nears 3 million votes, Hispanic turnout is now exceeding presidential levels. More Hispanics have voted than did at this point in the 2024 presidential election. What's driving this huge increase? Young voters.

Ohio Republican Gov. Mike DeWine on Vivek Ramaswamy's attack ad featuring Amy Acton's estranged and abusive mother: “The ad, on its face is, deeply, deeply troubling. But when you know the rest of the story, when you know the backstory, when you know that the husband of the mom was indicted by a grand jury after hearing testimony, and then he took off along with the mother. When you know that, it just... makes it more serious. It makes it just more wrong. So it's wrong to run this... I would just urge the Ramaswamy campaign to take this down."

"Midterms can signal the waning of an old era. And they can be a preamble, a prelude, to a new one. So if future historians write of a No Kings era beginning in 2028, those of us who are still around can quietly interject to say: Don’t forget 2026." thebulwark.com/p/fasten-your…

This man, @mrddmia, who is suggesting I be shot, was in the mix to be President Trump's next Attorney General after he fired Pam Bondi for not prosecuting more of his political opponents. He is now at a MAGA dark money group, mobilizing death threats against me and my staff for sport. This shouldn’t be controversial: if you aid in stealing taxpayer money or directing it to enrich President Trump or his family, then you should be held accountable for that crime. That’s what I said, and I stand by it. And if you use the justice system for frivolous lawsuits used to intimidate and jail your political opponents, you should be held accountable for that via your bar status. No abuse of power and not violating the law? Then we have no problem. We know most Republican politicians are desperate to change the topic from their failing agenda. That’s how this kind of coordinated right-wing media play works. The threats and intimidation — of me, my staff, and my family — *are the point* of this kind of play. This dude and so many others are just hoping that we'll shut up in response. Not going to happen.

Henderson: “They wanted things that we typically are required by law to keep private. Social Security numbers, full dates of birth, driver’s license numbers…We were concerned about what they would do with that data.”
Utah’s Republican Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson: “In the past two elections that I oversaw as lieutenant governor, the threats were all external…But now we also have threats coming from within our own government”

Well, look at that. CA is seeing a big increase in multifamily housing permits. We passed historic CEQA reforms w/AB 130 to make it easier to build housing & now we’re seeing momentum. There’s still lots of work to do, but this is an encouraging sign. ocregister.com/2026/10/08/ca…

A bigger scandal than Trump’s first Ukraine impeachment.
NEW: The order to limit a satellite system used by Ukraine for battlefield communications and drone operations came from inside the White House, according to two US officials and a Western official briefed on the matter.
