The mundane fact that that the leading public health official in the country is a vicious, ignorant quack who, under the auspices of sociopathic president, is putting lives at risk is barely an issue in this campaign.
NYT: RFK Jr. to Allow Use of Unapproved Peptide Injections Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said on Wednesday that he would allow widespread patient access to unapproved peptide injections made popular by internet influencers, sparking serious concern among drug safety experts. The plan would bypass the most standard Food and Drug Administration safeguards for approving drugs, such as tests to see if the compounds work better than a placebo and whether they might cause cancer or birth defects. nytimes.com/2026/10/28/healt…

Michigan’s Muslim population is 2-3 times larger than its Jewish population. The feelings of the latter get blanket attention, whereas I’ve seen no analysis or reporting on how Michigan Muslims feel about Rogers’ messaging and ads suggesting his Muslim opponent is a terrorist
If you're trying to understand why so many Michigan Jewish Democrats are defecting, I wrote in August about it. It's not, per se, about foreign policy. theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0…

Can’t be canceled if no one has heard of you in the first place
β€œEvery possible -ism and -phobia and moral impropriety has been ascribed to me since I began my largely pro-bono career as an internet girl,” writes Ivy Wolk. In a new essay, the 22-year-old comedian and actor reflects on the way her dark thoughts about her own self-image are interpreted as β€œsoulless edgelord fare” β€” and all the times she’s been canceled since she started posting her comedy online as a teen, including when children once decided en masse that she was a β€œwhorish foil” to a famous friend of hers. β€œAs much as I wish for anonymity or a slate wipe sometimes, I am grateful for the perspective I’ve aggregated and the ways in which I have been challenged never to abandon my beliefs and my unbounding love for other people,” Wolk writes. β€œIt cannot harden me, it cannot isolate me from community, and it cannot remove me from public life.” Read the full essay: nymag.visitlink.me/yANP5M

Obama tonight on his Cheesecake Factory line: "They mobilized a whole of government response to that joke. Not to inflation, but to that joke. The White House even called the Secretary of the Treasury. This is the man who is in charge of the economy. The person who's supposed to be figuring out how to make your life more affordable. The guy who's supposed to be figuring out how to lower inflation. And reduce interest rates. They told him he should hold a press conference in front of the Cheesecake Factory."

I have lived through a lot of cycles where Democrats got their hopes up at the end about a bunch of things that ended up not materializing. But maybe it'll really happen this cycle.

Yes this is an intentional CYOA. Am I mocking the idea that it could finally happen or am I suggesting this year is really different?

We could have an enforcement system like this in Georgia where violations were promptly penalized, but we choose not to.
UPDATE: @ri_boe has fined the GOP's LG candidate John Loughlin $25 for botched campaign report:

The only Republican gubernatorial nominee in my lifetime who had previously been elected to statewide office was Brian Kemp…
Yeah, this is a blue sky poll for Dems that would refresh their Georgia bench overnight and wipe out Republicans. (Who's the 2030 gov frontrunner if Rs lose LG and AG?)

What you call the β€œJewish center” were parties (Bennett, Liberman) every analyst considered as far-right a few years ago.
If Israel's current exit polls hold, the parties representing the Jewish center will have to make a choice: partner with Arab parties or else keep Bibi in power. A pretty clear metaphor for the choice facing Israel more broadly.

There's a real problem with this Times Peltola story: I don't know how you can write this story without any mention of Republican support for Eric and Carol Hafner in 2024 and 2026. That's crucial context for how both parties try to game the top 4 ballot. And given the staff

Something I notice about this rally, the DJ keeps on hyping up Keisha Lance Bottoms. He keeps asking people to give it up for her. It's pretty clear Jon Ossoff is going to win this race, but KLB is trailing Rick Jackson in most polls. #GAPol
