The icon is still a work in progress, but I was too excited to wait for the perfect icon before sharing this macOS and iOS native Lightroom alternative that I’ve been working on for a while. Give it a try and let know how we can make it better! testflight.apple.com/join/J4…

The UI is written in Swift, while the photo engine is actually Rust, which is what allows LighBties.app to have such amazing performance and run on the GPU, even on my 7 year old iPad Pro.

Expect the macOSicons.com files that have not been cached to be down for a few minutes while I migrate the whole db to a larger drive, I was about to run out of space.

A lot of the issues and downtime of macOSicons.com was due to it running on a shared VPS (because money). Yesterday I bought a dedicated machine on @Hetzner_Online and I'm working on migrating everything there. There might be some disruptions during the migration.

Easy fix with @elrumo 's macosicons.com
THIS GUY VIBE CODED A MAC APP THAT AUTOMATICALLY SETS FOLDER ICONS BASED ON THEIR NAMES every folder on your mac looks the same (all blue folders) you have to read every name to find what you're looking for this app reads the folder name and automatically assigns a matching icon your "Photos" folder gets a camera icon. your "Music" folder gets a music icon. your "Projects" folder gets a code icon, all automatic it uses an LLM to understand the folder name and match it to the right icon so it works even with creative or unusual folder names the small details that make your workspace feel organized are the ones nobody builds because they seem too simple to charge for but anyone who has stared at 30 identical blue folders trying to find the right one knows THIS is a real problem mac used to have custom folder icons built in on older versions of macOS. apple removed it. this guy brought it back

And no, the video above is not an animation, it’s a real time recording of my screen. And no, it’s not Figma.

Hopefully not many of you noticed this detail, but when something goes wrong on macOSicons.com, the happy face goes sad 😔

"Reset password" is now also available, something that I had complelt forgotten to add to the redesign. 😅
A small but requested macOSicons.com update, now you can delete your own icons if you really want to!

Coding used to be more fun and satisfying before AI happened. Yes, I may be more productive, or at least have that perception, but coding isn’t as fun anymore. It now feels like a slot machine, and they’re no fun.

🔥 More details from the brand new macOSicons.com! I wanted it to make it more fun, so I added a ton of small details like this subtle tvOS-like animation to icons. #macOS #apple #BuildInPublic
