From Jakarta's mangroves to Christchurch's rivers, South Africa's oceans to Chile's sky, it's clear that Earth is our home & its survival our responsibility. Over 2 years & 6 continents, the #BachProject reminds me of this truth often. #EarthDay #cultureconnectsus 📸@austinmann

Looking forward to follow these memories from around the world - Turkana, deep deep history of mankind, awesome!
“To travel is to live,” Hans Christian Andersen said in his memoirs (1855). Now, we're confined to our homes. It's hard. We’re a migrating species. Until it's safe to pick up our evolutionary wanderlust, I'll share memories using #lockdownvoyage. First up: Turkana, Kenya (2012)

A team in Toronto made a “Social Distance machine” to prove the city’s sidewalks are too narrow to keep a safe physical distance. We speak with @theurbangeog about his clever contraption: “I would like to see a solution where we’re not putting people in danger.” #COVID19 watch:

At the grocery. Wearing my mask. Lady behind me, snarky & loud enough to make sure I heard, “don’t guess she realizes that stupid mask won’t do any good.” Me: “Honey, I’m an off duty nurse, I’m wearing it to protect YOU. But, I can take it off if you’d like.” She practically ran.

It's nice when countries work to solve problems!
Germany, Denmark and The Netherlands are building an island to house 7,000 wind turbines. It could provide electricity for 80 million Europeans. We have solutions, implement them. #ActOnClimate #climate #energy #innovation #renewables #GreenNewDeal #PanelsNotPipelines

Excellent thread on #COVID19 transmission patterns as revealed by genome sequencing. @trvrb nextstrain.org/help/coronavi…
Genomic sequencing of viruses from the #COVID19 pandemic can help reveal transmission patterns. Thanks to data sharing through @GISAID from groups all over the world, @nextstrain is now showing 1882 #SARSCoV2 genomes. This is an update on a few aspects of what we're seeing. 1/14

Interesting pre-print characterising some human neutralizing antibodies elicited by SARS-CoV-2 infection. It seems they are specific to COVID too so potential for use in therapy. Exciting biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

This virus is teaching us that from now on, living wages, guaranteed health care for all, unemployment & labor rights are not far left issues, but issues of right vs wrong & life vs death.

Replying to @Nigel_Farage
It’s about time we said it. Nigel Farage is a hateful, repulsive racist. The disease originated in China. China did not cause it. China showed us how to fight it, along with other nations like South Korea. Research and support is coming thick and fast from China. 1/2
