I want to tell you all, people grinding, overcoming doubt and fear that I believe in you and want to see you succeed. I want my feed full of people overcoming their challenges and experiencing success and fulfillment. If you're someone building apps and a new life let's connect!
Good Friday X builders! Hope your week was filled with overcoming challenges, learning, moving towards your goal, intentions realized. Weekend is here, the time when your projects get your full attention :)
A couple of days ago I started cooking up builderwars . A game that incorporates AI building fictitious app launches, launch posts on X, profile and engagement growth. Scoring is done through your real engagement on X with it's own fair play algo. Wanna play?
My first internet venture was putting indie musicians music online in 1994. This is an interesting development, not totally unexpected. The level of innovation and impact will be dictated by the artistic license allowed to users.
Spotify just announced a feature that could either save the music industry or destroy it.
Starting as early as Q1 2027, Spotify Premium subscribers will be able to use AI to transform any participating artist’s song into a completely different version. Turn a folk ballad into a dance track. Make a hip-hop song sound acoustic. Generate a cover where one artist’s voice performs another artist’s song. Remix a pop hit into lo-fi study music. Create the version of your favorite song that only existed in your head until now.
The remixes will be uploaded directly to Spotify. They’ll appear in playlists. They’ll count toward the original song’s chart position. And most importantly the original artist will earn royalties every time someone listens to a fan-created remix of their work.
Spotify has already signed a landmark licensing deal with Universal Music Group the world’s largest record label. Negotiations with Sony Music and Warner Music are ongoing. The feature will cost an additional $4–$5/month on top of Spotify Premium. And analysts project 7–8% of American subscribers will adopt it by 2028.
This is not Suno or Udio generating music from text prompts. This is fans remixing real songs by real artists with the artists’ permission, on the world’s largest streaming platform, with royalties flowing back to the creators.
A music industry analyst who’s covered streaming economics for 15 years told her team something after reading the licensing agreement that reframed how she understood the future of recorded music.
“Spotify just turned 640 million listeners into 640 million potential remixers. The question isn’t whether people will use it they will. The question is whether paying artists for fan remixes solves the economics of streaming or creates a world where the original recording is worth less than the infinite remixes generated from it.”
Here’s what Spotify’s AI remix feature actually is, who wins, who loses, and why this might be the most consequential decision in the music industry since the launch of streaming itself 🧵
$0 MRR is trending. lol. I've got 4 or 5 apps at $0. My contract works pays for them. Am I a solopreneur or a working stiff with an expensive AI building hobby? Does it matter?
When it comes to moving past unhealthy behavior and compulsions you can put your fists down. This is a game of chess without a time limit and where taking as much time as you want to determine the best move is as effective as the best move.
Tales of Fails:
On January 18, 2018, Poloniex experienced a "significant server outage" and "technical malfunction" that halted trading and order processing. I had 72 BTC leveraged into ~7500 Ethereum. When service "resumed" I was already margin called and lost essentially everything. Those BTC were purchased for ~75 & ~120 CAD in 2013. That sucked.
It is a strange kind of dissatisfaction being paid just enough for your time to keep you from spending it in a more satisfying way.
Do you ever wake up at 4am.. thinking about a new project idea and the 10 other ones you just won't let die?
The eternal nature of reality is an inexhaustible resource. When you feel limited, exhausted, frustrated, defeated remember that your very being is animated by the same inexhaustible eternal resource.
Everything i've done online, all the startups, webapps, crypto, the current apps and services are all leading to the final boss. Making more money than I ever have by posting things online. Easy work. It's what I excel at. Thank God. Let's connect.
I like chatting with different models about reality, truth, love. Here's something from a session with Opus 5.5
This is a smart approach, and surprising no one thought of it until now. On another note, check the replies.. it's like 90% sloplies.
There's never been anything worth doing or anthing worth being except that which is inherently valuable.
Replying to @willdepue
all human work in the future is artisanal!!! there is nothing that will survive automation by the machines other than things that derive inherent value from being produced by a human
