The most incredible thing about American politics is the visceral disgust conservatives have for the young people they need to get married
Married people with children are invested in the future, they care about preserving the existing order for their kids, they can see a future and will fight to defend it
In short, they become conservatives
But the conservative movement sneers at young men who want to get married, buy a house, and start a family, they call them entitled or lazy and talk about how they prefer imported foriegners with "conservative values"
Forget the basic moral necessity of caring for your own posterity, from a purely politically mercenary position you should still encourage behaviors that make people vote more like you
But conservatives hate young people so deeply they would rather destroy their own future than priortize famliy formation
If you want to understand why young people want to burn the whole system down, this is it

This scapegoating ethno-fetishism on the Right in the aftermath of the midterms is repugnant. It reflects an intellectual weakness at odds with American ideals, dressed up as political sophistication. Demographics weren't destiny in 2024, but now that the GOP took some massive Ls, apparently monocausal explanations for what are really a whole host of policy failures are once again in vogue.
Human action cannot be reduced to geography and blood; neither offers a sufficient basis for understanding politics or making political decisions. Reducing politics to these forces amounts to embracing Machiavellian means for Darwinian ends.

56.5% of Texas voter registration were classified as “new valid registrations.”
This is extremely suspicious that 55% of Texas voter registrations were “new”

Democrats will get into office and immediately start investigating Trump, his officials, and anyone else they can think of. There will be impeachments and at least a few Trump officials are probably going down. If they win in 2028 they will pursue federal cases against conservative politicians, activists, and public figures. People will go to jail. When they have power, they wield it. Republicans had the chance to root out Democrat corruption and they didn’t. They had the chance to systematically dismantle and destroy left wing radicals and their networks and funders, and they didn’t. Charlie’s murder should have led to a ruthless nationwide crackdown on left wing extremism, but it didn’t. Democrats will turn around and do all of the things the Republicans were too scared to do. If they win the presidency they’ll also nuke the filibuster without hesitation.

Its not an exaggeration to say thousands of Americans will die of fentanyl overdoses because of this.
Texas Gov-Elect Hinojosa likely will pull most or all of Texas state police, Texas National Guard, and intelligence assets from the 1,200-mile Texas-Mexico border if she still believes her past policy positions. Today, Texas provides an important second line of defense backing up Border Patrol. Trump will need to compensate but should be able to hold the line against runners and drug smugglers. But in two years when he’s gone? Also don’t expect Texas cooperation with ICE to make arrests in a state with the second highest illegal alien population in the nation.

Friendly reminder that Fairfax County had been voting majority Republican until around 2006, and had a Republican representing large portions of it until 2018.
In 2000, the county was about 65% white
2006: 60%
2018: 50%
2024: 46%

I can’t understand a word of it. Again, this is Fairfax County Northern Virginia.
She shrugs and keeps walking. A black dude follows her out. The Indian guy says some stuff to him. He appears to be homeless. He gestures toward her direction with resignation, shakes his head and shrugs. It’s clear they’re regulars and this guy deals with them every day.
“Let me know when you’re coming,” my wife texts me.
I’m picking her up two minutes down the road. My kids are at daycare another ten minutes drive later.
We are so fucked. None of this ends well.
