Two major issues, in my opinion, have seriously hurt the GOP heading into the midterms. And both were largely avoidable.
1. Oil Prices and the Iran War
POTUS had two choices: Either don’t start a war with Iran, or, once committed, go in with overwhelming force and finish the job. The conflict began in June 2025. It should’ve been resolved by early 2026, instead of dragging on into the midterms, a stop and go fighting, creating uncertainty, driving up energy costs, and hurting American businesses and consumers.
2. Immigration and Broken Expectations
In 2024, Trump’s msg was clear: Secure the border, stop illegal immigration, and deport gang members and hardened criminals. There was also longstanding bipartisan recognition that Dreamers needed a reasonable solution.
That msg helped GOP win the WH and congress, with significant support from black and latino voters.
But after the election the msg changed. Suddenly, enforcement wasn’t just about dangerous criminals. It was about deporting virtually anyone here illegally, including ppl who had lived, worked, raised families, and contributed to this country for 20, 30, even 40yrs.
Americans watched ordinary, hardworking ppl being taken from their workplaces and homes, detained, and sometimes deported, including to countries they had no connection to (some were sent to Africa).
That’s NOT what many voters believed they were voting for. There’s a big difference between securing our borders and removing dangerous criminals versus tearing apart families who have been part of our communities for decades.
Both decisions have hit Main Street America where it hurts most. Higher energy costs, economic uncertainty, disrupted businesses, and communities living in fear. These aren’t just political talking points. They have real economic and human consequences. GOP had an opportunity to build on its 2024 victory and expand its coalition. Instead, poor decisions and unnecessary overreach risk throwing that opportunity away.
Ppl love saying “Elections have consequences”. I think there’s a much better way to put it, and that is “BAD DECISIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES”.
And unfortunately GOP may be learning that lesson the hard way.

Within two hours of polls closing in Florida, all 5.5 million ballots were counted and the results were announced.
This really isn’t hard.

NEW: The Chicago Board of Elections is investigating a report of illegal electioneering at a polling place near University Village. The board "acknowledges there was a violation." This comes after a voter tells NBC 5 that representatives from the Hilario Dominguez campaign for Board of Education president were approaching voters and putting up signs within 100 feet of the polling place.

Another DCFS failure under Pritzker.
More than $1.4 million in unauthorized extra pay went to 146 employees between 2020 and early 2026.
HR Director Kimberly Bates approved the payments and took nearly $52,000 herself, including while on leave. Roughly 30% of the total went to just 11 people in her own office.
Bates never obtained the required CMS approval and later resigned.
Last week, a judge held current Director Heidi Mueller in contempt for failing to turn over records tied to the death of Mackenzi Felmlee, a foster child in the agency’s care.
Mueller was given 30 days to comply. The next hearing is December 4.
How many more failures before we see any real accountability?

Imagine Republicans announcing they'd war-gamed 150 election scenarios, conducted more than 15 shadow hearings, and assembled over 20 Republican attorneys general with emergency lawsuits ready before Election Day. The media would collectively shit its pants. Every self-important asshole with a cable-news contract would be screeching about fascism, insurrection, and the imminent destruction of American democracy. CNN would need a fucking defibrillator.
Now change the R to a D.
Holy shit! It's a miracle! Suddenly, every supposedly terrifying threat to democracy becomes a heroic exercise in election preparedness. Emergency lawsuits are responsible governance. Political mobilization is civic engagement. Questioning election integrity is practically a goddamn patriotic obligation.
What an absolutely magnificent display of partisan bullshit.
Gavin Newsom is already accusing Trump of trying to rig an election before the votes have even been counted. Imagine a Republican governor pulling that stunt. The usual media blowhards would be howling about dangerous conspiracy theories and the catastrophic erosion of public trust.
But Newsom? Apparently, the man deserves a fucking medal for vigilance.
Washington Governor Bob Ferguson has offered plainclothes National Guard personnel to monitor ballot drop boxes. Imagine Republicans proposing undercover military personnel around election infrastructure. The outrage machine would explode so violently you'd need a hazmat team to clean up the newsroom.
Meanwhile, No Kings activists are preparing rapid-response demonstrations over certification disputes. Apparently, the people who spent years screaming about election denial have suddenly discovered an enthusiastic appreciation for questioning election procedures.
The sheer fucking audacity is breathtaking.
For years, Americans were lectured that casting suspicion on elections was dangerous, irresponsible, and practically treasonous. Now Democrats are predicting a glorious blue wave while preparing an entire legal and political machinery for potential election confrontations.
And the media's vocabulary performs its familiar acrobatic routine, transforming identical categories of political behavior into entirely different moral offenses depending on which party is involved.
What a steaming mountain of sanctimonious horseshit.
The next time someone delivers another pompous sermon about dangerous election skepticism, remember the 150 scenarios, the emergency lawsuits, and the pre-election accusations of rigging.
Apparently, the First Amendment includes a special clause permitting election skepticism whenever the person opening their mouth has a fucking D after their name.

"What’s shocking isn’t Haley Stevens’ decision to wash her hands of El-Sayed and his rancid campaign, but that so few other Democrats have had the moral courage to emulate her. “Country over Party,” apparently, only goes one way"

Haley Stevens was going to do a Democratic unity rally with Abdul El-Sayed and James Clyburn where she was going to encourage her supporters, many of whom have serious reservations about El-Sayed, to vote for him.
This was very important for El-Sayed, because Stevens is popular among Jewish and black Michigan Democrats and Clyburn is an icon among black voters nationwide. El-Sayed has weakness with both of these groups and needs to shore them up going into election day.
Stevens's condition was that he make an unambiguous, unqualified condemnation of the antisemitic rhetoric his friends, supporters and surrogates have been using, including in ads run in Michigan.
El-Sayed refused to do this, and instead asked Stevens not to appear at the event. At that point, Stevens realized that he was not interested in unity with her or her supporters and that she could no longer support him for Senate.
El-Sayed is an antisemite. He is friends with antisemites Hasan Piker and Cenk Uygur. He will not condemn them. He will not condemn the awful things they say.
He has had multiple opportunities to condemn their hateful rhetoric, and he always says: "He is not part of a campaign, nobody speaks for me but me, and I'm not here to talk about that."
That's not good enough. If that is how a Republican talked about Nick Fuentes or Richard Spencer, it would be the biggest controversy in the race. The fact that so many Democrats are willing to tolerate this from Abdul El-Sayed is an indictment of the entire party.
There is no coalition that can include both the Jewish Democratic members of Temple Israel and supporters of the Hezbollah terrorist who tried to murder their preschool children. Abdul El-Sayed made a decision about who he wanted in his tent.
Haley Stevens was late to realize it, but it is admirable that she finally decided to be an upstander instead of a bystander. No Nazis in the US Senate.

JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon warns a Russian victory in Ukraine could shatter global alliances, reshape the world economy, and force nations to question whether they can still rely on America. 🇺🇸
Asked what a Russian victory in Ukraine would mean for the global economy, Dimon responded:
“It could be a potential disaster.
This is the first war in Europe where a free, democratic nation was invaded by 200,000 or 300,000 Russian soldiers under the threat of nuclear blackmail.
We’ve never had nuclear blackmail before.
You’re also teaching the whole world that maybe having nuclear weapons is a pretty good thing, because people will be afraid of you, and you can abuse a neighbor if you feel like it.
Russia would be on the border of NATO. Obviously, NATO is rearming right now.
But the other thing is, it’s affecting all alliances, military alliances and global economic alliances.
And the nexus of Iran, North Korea, and China makes it very hard, in my view, for the Chinese-American relationship.
China says they’re neutral, but they’re helping. We are clearly not neutral.
If Russia wins, you might see a lot of people deciding: Will America stand up for Europe? Can you rely on them? And if you can’t rely on them, what are you going to do?
That includes economically.
Every nation is going to say, what makes me secure? Energy, food, all the things I need.
I’m worried that if Russia wins, you could see the world enter a little bit of chaos as people realign alliances and economic relationships.”

Four women attacked in two days. The suspect arrested TWICE—and walks free BOTH times.
This is why violence against women has surged under Letitia James. She helped write the bail laws that have created a revolving door of criminality. She stands by silently as district attorneys downgrade charges in domestic violence cases.
I will be a different kind of Attorney General — one who helps fix the bail laws, one who demands that cases be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and steps in when they are not, one who stops violence before it starts so that innocent people don’t get hurt.
Vote for change. Vote for a safer New York. Go vote now.

Chicago Public Schools just announced record graduation rates. And @GovPritzker recently bragged about Illinois' education "results". Neither claim is honest.
The graphic below does a better job at telling the truth about how the education system is failing, especially at CPS.
2024 vs. 2018.
Massively more spending.
Most kids can't read and it's worsening.
Doesn't matter. Move the kids along. Graduate them.
Rinse, repeat as the district shrinks in enrollment.
It's why Illinois urgently needs Universal School Choice, among a host of other public school reforms.

A Democrat running for the U.S. Senate in Michigan just argued that Americans should have the right to own muskets.
Because that's what the Founders had.
And the audience laughed.
But here's what makes this interesting.
The Supreme Court already rejected that argument in 2008.
In District of Columbia v. Heller, the Court said the Second Amendment isn't limited to weapons that existed in the 18th century.
And here's the irony.
He made this argument into a wireless microphone.
While being recorded on a smartphone.
For people to watch on the internet.
None of which existed in 1791.
Yet nobody thinks the First Amendment only protects speech written with a quill pen.
So why would the Second Amendment stop at muskets?
Here's my question:
If constitutional rights only protected technology available when they were written, would that logic apply to free speech and privacy too?
Or should the Second Amendment be treated differently?
Tell me why.
Lyndon Johnson declared war on poverty in January 1964, and poverty promptly won.
The Office of Economic Opportunity launched that same year, spending $800 million in its first year alone. By 1980, the federal government had spent over $3 trillion (in today's dollars) across the constellation of Great Society programs: Medicaid, food stamps, housing subsidies, community action agencies, the whole apparatus. The poverty rate in 1964 sat at 19 percent. By 1973, it had fallen to 11 percent. Impressive, until you notice it was already falling at precisely that rate throughout the 1950s, before Johnson spent a single dollar.
The market was already doing the job.
What Johnson created was a dependency infrastructure. The Aid to Families with Dependent Children program paid higher benefits when no father lived in the household, which subsidized his departure.
Between 1965 and 1980, out-of-wedlock births among black Americans climbed from 25 percent to 56 percent. Charles Murray documented the numbers exhaustively in "Losing Ground" (1984), and the left never refuted the math; instead, they attacked Murray personally.
Bureaucracies administer poverty rather than eliminate it. Every dollar Washington sends to a poor family in Chicago passes through a federal agency, a state agency, a county office, and a caseworker's desk first. The machinery consumes a stunning share before anything reaches you.
Capital formation, voluntary exchange, and sound money pulled more people out of destitution in the 19th century than every federal program combined has since Johnson's cameras rolled in the Rose Garden.

🚨DataRepublican @DataRepublican just confirmed the quiet part out loud: Illinois Governor JB Pritzker @GovPritzker is explicitly named in the videos as one of only two governors willing to green-light the “illegitimacy memo”—a playbook for declaring a duly elected President illegitimate after the midterms so Democrat governors can claim they are the only legitimate U.S. authority.
This isn’t abstract “resistance.” NSL4A (the retired military and national security officials operationalizing the plan) and Pritzker’s own Governors Safeguarding Democracy group have been working the same sequence of redlines, including treating lawful federal pushback against coordinated protests as proof of illegitimacy. Add the funding layer—his sister’s role in the Democracy Funders Network—and the coordination stops looking coincidental.
Imported regime-change tactics, billionaire governors, and ex-military networks drafting the conditions under which states nullify federal authority: that is the actual document trail.
DataRepublican has the receipts.🔥
Replying to @CynicalPublius @JBPritzker
Yes, he is.
1. The videos explicitly name the Illinois governor as one of the two that were willing to buy into the illegitimacy memo.
2. He’s co-chair of Governors Safeguarding Democracy which apparently liked the memo and presentation.
3. I believe Democracy Funders Network is involved in a lot of the funding and his sister chairs that.

City Colleges of Chicago faculty and staff voted 96% to authorize a strike and could walk out Monday. Contracts expired in July.
After months of talks, they’re still fighting over wages, healthcare, AI rules, and free developmental classes while students wait to see if classes even happen.
Brandon Johnson’s mayor-appointed board has had months and still no deal. Same pattern as the rest of his education fights. Big votes, stalled talks, then classes get disrupted.
Community colleges are supposed to stay open and affordable. Instead, students and taxpayers get another round of leverage through shutdown threats right as the week starts.
Nothing says “accessible education” like shutting it down for the students who rely on it most.

The incident report DIDN'T EVEN MENTION THE BROKEN BONES.
Brown was sentenced to 120 days... but he was released early, and only served 60.
He was out in MARCH!!!!!
Two months later, he beat a postal worker with a ROCK and st*bbed Alyssa Paige to de*th at noon on the Atlanta Beltline.
