Terrible times
We have played with the ugx for so long.
I'm sure even if we use the reserves, it will just be a temporary fix and the dollar will jump straight back.
In just one day, someone who has $100k has made 20m ugx without moving a muscle. And they're many with this $100k
If you have ugx in banks, first store it in real estate for now until things become predictable again.

Replying to @SarahBireete
@SarahBireete We Ugandans love OKWEKWATSA(using excuses/fake reasons) to divert attention from real problems. Because i think that SOVEREIGNTY LAW may not even constitute 1% of the reasons the economy isn't doing great.
Things we prefer to hush-hush....We lose about 15% of our budget to CORRUPTION, annually. Actually put at over Shs 10 trillion out of a budget of Shs 84trillion. We spend another 54% of the GDP to debt servicing, which increases every day, to run our POLITICAL GOVERNANCE SYSTEM! So about Shs 40trillion is spent on POLITICS, PATRONAGE, SALARIES OF POLITICAL EMPLOYEES like the 600MPs...etc...
So how much is left for Production, investment, and social services?
Then you virtually import everything, from TPs to Mangoes, even Milk...to Drugs, to Toothpicks& .....
Man!!!!!

Many civil society organizations want to engage with the @_AfricanUnion but aren't sure where to begin.
Getting involved starts with understanding how the system works. The graphic highlights three practical reminders for CSOs looking to strengthen their engagement with the AU!
ECOSOCC was established to provide a platform for African #civilsociety organizations to engage with the African Union. Knowing how that pathway works, supporting your #advocacy with evidence, and understanding the issues being discussed at the continental level can make your engagement more effective.
Remember that the strongest advocacy is well prepared. It is informed by community realities, backed by evidence and connected to existing policy commitments.

.@AfEONet and @EPDeu engaged with the @AU_ECOSOCC on strengthening collaboration to advance electoral integrity and citizen participation across Africa.
Key priorities include advocating for transparent accreditation of citizen election observers, protecting civic space....

“Democratic resilience cannot be built in isolation. It depends on accountable institutions, civil society that is able to act, and citizens who can participate meaningfully in the decisions that affect them.”
In his closing remarks at the 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣6️⃣ ECOSOCC Citizens’ Forum, Mr. Leon Hemkemeyer, Deputy Director, @EPDeu, reflected on the responsibility of all partners to support democratic resilience through genuine collaboration.
Recognizing #Europe’s historical position within the global order discussed throughout the Forum, he stressed that #Africa’s political, economic and intellectual influence must be defined and advanced by Africans themselves.
He highlighted that partners, including European #civilsociety, have a role as constructive partners in supporting accountable institutions, meaningful citizen participation and stronger civil society engagement.
Mr. Hemkemeyer emphasized that credible #elections require more than election-day processes. They depend on institutions, civil society organizations and citizens who can observe, monitor and participate in democratic processes. He called for new coalitions bringing together civil society, citizen groups, researchers, #media, professional associations and communities to strengthen electoral integrity in a changing global environment.

Three years. Three countries. One goal: putting civil society at the heart of stronger AML/CFT frameworks.
Kampala started the conversation. Gaborone turned dialogue into action. Today, in Abuja, we are taking the next step.
