Look, you can't just go around saying "I will cure death" every time you start fretting about your popularity. Like that is a huge fib lol
SITUATION DETECTED: OpenAI President Greg Brockman says he thinks AI will make “significant strides” in biology, health, and curing diseases over the next 12–18 months, and that “death becoming a choice” could become possible.

Now that much needed AI regulations are looming, it's so funny watching the slop peddlers desperately scream "We are so close to curing cancer!!!", when A) Medical research uses local models, not the mass theft of human knowledge you call "AI" B) You never cared before

You can tell AI is a very real industry by the way it implodes unless a sympathetic political party has totally unchecked power

La minuta de "la AI va a curar el cancer" suena cada vez mas desesperada.
The differing perceptions of AI are wild. The country just voted against data centers on 40+ provisions nationwide and hates AI. (Plenty of legitimate gripes.) But most of those people are just unaware that AI is finding a new cancer cure or treatment weekly, going through decades of peer reviewed data and uncovering mountains of errors, that its correcting, throughout every academic field. Replacing billions of man hours of drudgery. Closest thing to a “miracle” I’ve ever witnessed. When I talk to people outside of tech/VC, they’re just unaware of all of it.

Hubieron dos meses en esta app que la gente no ironicamente intento convencernos de que Troya era una obra maestra.
What movies were considered mediocre when they first came out, but the internet has since tried to convince everyone are actually masterpieces, and you still think they’re just mediocre?

AI hasn't cured a single thing
Slowing down AI is not just about waiting a few more years for better tech. It means losing millions of people who will die from diseases that AI could have cured.

Es muy gracioso como el discurso de la AI cambio exactamente despues de las elecciones de USA de "la AI va a reemplazarte" a "uwu la ai va a curar el cancer porque odias a la AI? "
Can someone help me understand why politicians want to pause AI when it's about to cure diseases and change the course of humanity for the better?

SENATE FLIPS BLUE, CHATGPT DYING, WOKE IS BACK BABY
A very sad day. ChatGPT is officially on death row. The beautiful, blissful experience of interacting with a frontier-ish reasoning model without worrying about a usage meter will soon be a thing of the past. I am weirdly significantly impacted by this. It feels like it shouldn’t matter…I could reserve all current usage for Codex and buy a $20 plan just for ChatGPT and it would be more than enough. But it’s not about the money…it’s about the psychological impact of The Meter. The idea of having to think about optimizing for a meter is just so exhausting that it ruins the whimsy of free-flowing exploratory thought. That is what ChatGPT was. A whimsical, magical all-you-can-think buffet of experimentation and exploration where you were limited only by your imagination and your ability to come up with $20 once a month. You didn’t have to think about “using all of your usage” or scheduling your thinking time around someone else’s arbitrary schedule…you just had a portal to endless information and research capability in your pocket to tap into guilt-free at any time the moment struck you. But either because OpenAI thinks adding the meter will stimulate additional usage (it probably will), generate additional revenue (it probably will), or just because too many people took undue advantage of ChatGPT’s generous allowances (they definitely did)…that amazing, weightless experience is now coming to an end. It was awesome while it lasted. RIP ChatGPT.

An average person's experience of AI is that it jumps at us uninvited in everything, fucks up Google Search, ruins our experience of seeing cute videos as it forces us to constantly check if they're real, pumps out bullshit, fuels propaganda, etc.
