The Argument For Clean Energy Has Flipped "Last week, the @IEA published a report called Electrification. Its central thesis can be traced back to 2009, when a Stanford engineer named Mark Jacobson wrote an article for Scientific American presciently arguing that we could power 100% of the planet with renewables. At the time, this was a somewhat niche position." ... "The IEA’s new report borrows many of the same concepts, and lists the benefits of electrification in the same order: energy security first, competitiveness second, and emissions third (think how different this is to the moral argument for taking climate action)." onlygoodnewsdaily.com/post/t…

This level of violence against Muslims is completely unacceptable. Where are the strong condemnations, the emergency meetings, the taskforces to tackle it? One mosque attacked every 5 days, says Muslim Trust theguardian.com/uk-news/2026…

Rajiv Menon KC is being prosecuted for citing an established legal principle in a closing speech. Such a prosecution is unprecedented in the UK. It is the stuff of authoritarian regimes What is happening to Rajiv Menon KC is an outrage and should concern everyone who cares about justice and the Rule of Law Please sign and share the petition @DefendourLawyer @DefendOurJuries
Netpol and @DefendOurJuries have launched the "Save Britain's Juries" petition The campaign follows Judge Jeremy Johnson's unprecedented actions against Rajiv Menon KC, lead defence counsel for the Filton 6, which campaigners say threaten the long-established independence of juries and the right to a fair trial. It took me a couple of days to read the latest @UN Commission of Inquiry's report on how Israel is deliberately targeting Palestinian children. I had to stop, again and again, just to breathe. The level of devastation, the detail, the evidence, it is overwhelming. The findings are devastating and unequivocal: Israeli authorities and security forces have deliberately targeted Palestinian children, resulting in genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes in #Gaza, and war crimes in the occupied West Bank. At @Amnesty, we documented the genocide in Gaza in our report published in December 2024, and more recently detailed evidence of ethnic cleansing in the West Bank. We know the patterns. We have exposed the atrocities. Yet reading this report still shakes you to the core. It goes deeper into the intent, into the systematic nature of the violence, into the unbearable reality that children themselves are being targeted. This is not collateral damage. This is not incidental. This is deliberate. Children, killed, maimed, traumatized, deprived not only of safety, but of any possibility of a future. Entire generations being erased in plain sight. How much more evidence does the world need? How many more reports must confirm what is already undeniable? Governments cannot continue to look away. Silence and inaction, in this moment, are complicity. This must end. Israel must be held fully accountable. 🔗ohchr.org/en/press-releases/…

New breed of political prisoner arises in Britain as anti-protest sentences rise “there is something going on which is profoundly political. Very often those protesters are reflecting majority rather than a minority view.” theguardian.com/law/2026/may…

Yesterday, I joined a delegation by the riverside to ask permission from the Huni Kuin tribe to land and do the work we must at COP 30. What an inspiring and important start to a long fortnight of negotiations.

Echoing Susie’s perfect choice of words endorsing @LabourRoyall @Jan4Chancellor for Chancellor. She’s done brilliant things at my old College and it’s time Oxford got more inclusive & inventive about its global role. 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
I can’t think of a better candidate for this role than Jan Royall. From making Somerville (my old college) one of the UK’s first Colleges of Sanctuary for refugee and displaced students, to her passionate advocating for equality, she shows integrity and humanity in everything she does.
