There is a lot of talk in Whitehall that the Chancellor will significantly reduce fiscal headroom in the forthcoming budget to avoid bigger tax rises. If he doesn’t knock this on the head pretty sharpish - against the backdrop of government bond prices falling across the developed world - he could find that the interest rate the government has to pay could increase in a very painful way. Not quite Truss style recklessness but not super smart

If you can, get a ticket for the Bayeux Tapestry (it’s actually an embroidery) @britishmuseum It’s breathtaking in its detail and depth and so beautifully presented. You’ll kick yourself if you don’t get to see it.

So, @tfwrail, please explain why my elderly mother's replacement bus (meant to be a train) from Shrewsbury to Aberystwyth, stopped & dumped passengers in Machynlleth? Passengers forced to wait for regular service bus onwards! Shocking "service" & standards. @tfwrailSupport

Supportive elected representatives will speak before we march at 11.00am to Bronglais Hospital. There, we will join hands to form a silent ring of solidarity around the hospital.
On 19 February, Hywel Dda University Health Board will decide whether to reduce stroke services at Bronglais Hospital to a “Treat and Transfer” unit. The implications are still unclear, but the threat is real.
We must send a clear message: Hands off our Hospital!

What is the point of fame if not to use it to do some good? Hugh Bonneville’s pleas for humanity in Gaza — on #BBCLauraK and in other interviews — has been articulate, dignified and profoundly moving. A fine actor, a fine man.
