Tether Gold is safu
One underappreciated aspect of the KPMG US audit on Tether imo is XAUT.
There has been, for long and for different reasons, a focus on "paper gold" risk across financial instruments.
KPMG's audit was on Tether International, S.A. de C.V. (USDT issuer), but those gold holdings and the XAUT-backing gold (TG Commodities, S.A. de C.V.) share the exact same in-house Swiss vault infrastructure.
That is now been confirmed to be real: the gold bars are indeed sitting in a nuclear bunker in the Swiss Alps. Safu.
You only deal with one counterparty, part of a group that litterally prints billions in profit every year.
That gold comes with 24/7 liquidity and 0 running fee contrary to ETFs, ideal for a store of value. Hold that gold 10yrs and you save c.4% of fees vs. GLD.
ngl, pretty solid.

Stablecoins are increasingly being spent by card swipe.
Crypto payment cards have gone from a novelty to more than $750 million in monthly spend. These cards let people pay with crypto anywhere traditional card networks are accepted. Behind the scenes, the crypto — stablecoins, overwhelmingly — gets converted to local currency at the point of sale, so the payments look like any other card transactions to merchants.
Crypto cardholders don’t require a traditional bank account. Depending on the program, users either deposit stablecoins with a card issuer, or hold them directly onchain through self-custody. Crypto cards expand people’s access to U.S. dollar accounts globally, and they offer a convenient way for stablecoin holders to transact.

Weird but true: without crypto, the current AI boom would not have been possible.
Today's data center buildout would've been impossible without Bitcoin miners spending a decade building the knowhow around power, sites, and scale in remote locations.
Nvidia could not moved beyond gaming to specialized compute without crypto mining as the bridge.
And the biggest neoclouds are almost all ex-crypto talent: @CoreWeave, @CrusoeAI, @togethercompute, @nscale, etc.
