On this day in 1952... Celtic's Irish Trinity all to the fore as we recover from 4-2 down to edge a 9-goal thriller with Third Lanark thanks to a last-gasp goal from Charlie Tully. Bertie Peacock also scored as did former Arthurlie striker Jim Lafferty, his last goal for Celts.

On this day in 1924...Willie Fleming creates what I believe to be a unique record, scoring four goals on his debut, coincidentally against today's opponents Kilmarnock at Celtic Park. He later played for Ayr and it was at his benefit game Peter Scarff's illness first manifested

On this day in 1897...a much-weakened Celtic side celebrated the 10th anniversary of its founding with a 2-1 win over Dundee at Carolina Port. I didn't recognise many of the line-up, including the man who scored both goals, Adam Henderson. @DFCHistorical moved to Dens in 1899.

What an image. Christmas Day 1906 in South London. A double-winning season for Willie Maley's Celtic, the first-ever in Scottish football. They would repeat the feat the following year.
It's crazy to think that goalkeepers used to wear the same kit as the rest of the team. Problems figuring out who handled the ball saw that change. This Arsenal v Celtic match from 1906 shows the problem. Celtic won 2-0 in the game played at Plumstead.

On this day in 1931... A wonderful Celtic career is launched on the back of tragedy. Joe Kennaway and John Thomson had been opponents exactly five months earlier. Following John's death, the Montreal man would wear his jersey in a 2-2 draw at Motherwell. Image @Celticcurio
