Anybody want to see a tour of the inside of Aalo Atomics pilot factory? Had a full interview with them that went up a few days ago as well. @JoeTegtmeyer @TesLatino
This might be the fastest moving company in nuclear energy right now. @FutureAZA went inside the @AaloAtomics pilot factory, a 40,000 square foot space where small modular reactors are built in weeks, not years. The whole idea is to build nuclear reactors like products on an assembly line. The tour covers design for manufacturing, nuclear quality assurance, and how they built a reactor so fast. You also get a close look at the sodium steam generator, duplex tubes with micron sized gaps, and automated welding. Then there's the AI powered autonomous control, and a reactor designed to fit the footprint of a shipping container. If you care about abundant clean energy, this one is worth watching all the way to the criticality section. youtu.be/4lAxocs6ASo

Wow. So they're actually going to do this!
Ford has already cast more than 5,000 Gigacastings for the upcoming $30,000 Fathom 🏭 Approved batches are shipping to Louisville Assembly Plant for process testing and prototype builds ahead of the midsize electric pickup’s 2027 launch. Each Fathom uses a front and a rear Unicasting. Together they replace 146 structural parts. Ingots are melted at about 700°C, injected, quenched, trimmed and machined, then cleared through dimensional checks, industrial X-ray, optical scans, and lab tensile and chemistry tests before any batch leaves Shelbyville. Ford says the team is still cutting cycle time, and the parts are designed for modular repairability. This sits inside the $2 billion Louisville overhaul for the Universal EV Platform. Unicasting is the structural core of the parallel “assembly tree” Ford said can cut assembly time by about 15% net. On the recent earnings call, COO A. Kumar Galhotra said about 90% of validation testing was done, first production-line vehicles had been built in Louisville, and supplier readiness at rate was the main remaining risk. Ford expects Fathom launch in Q4 2027. 📰 Full article industryarsenal.com/p/ford-c…

Quality FSD behavior right here.
My Tesla saw the police's rear brake lights that flashed so my car assumed he had his lights on and slowed on a green then proceeded. Wondering what he was thinking?

Oh you know, it's just FSD avoiding a car fishtailing into the wrong lane around a blind turn!

Is Anthropic gold or is it just a thin plating?
Anthropic just filed to go public. The ticker will be ANT, and the hosts say they're aiming to raise $100 billion. The same week, Google lost about $500 billion in value in a single day. I pulled the biggest moments from this week's @theallinpod and added my own take. @DavidSacks explains the $80 billion "loss" and why he calls Anthropic a model of capital efficiency. @friedberg walks through how fast big customers are growing. @chamath digs into the risk factors and asks if AI borrowing could crowd out Treasuries. @Jason on Google's wild week. As someone who relies on AI every day, this one hit home for me. Commentary is in my own voice, cloned with AI. Watch and tell me what you think.

Waymo has great sensors. Sensors are critical in the journey to autonomy. The best compute will struggle if it can't see the world. Waymo does not seem to have the best compute. Mantis shrimp have the best eyes, but a brain that can't process for squat. See the pattern?
Poor Waymo was just trying to go have some fun.

Also worth noting that I have several cameras.
Head on over to youtu.be/zChdksozJoQ?is=QLIP… and check out Jon’s first ride in a CyberCab. Pay no attention to the chubby fellow in the seat next to him. Remember, the camera adds 30lbs! 😊

Was very fortunate to get a chance to sit down and talk about the details with the head of engineering. Exceptional insights on the paths before them for electrification.
Nepal is quietly winning the bus war. Brian from @FutureAZA went to Kathmandu to visit @SajhaYatayat and see how they're electrifying their public bus fleet. Nepal's electricity is about 99% renewable, from hydropower. Diesel has to be trucked into a landlocked country, and it costs about $6 a gallon. So electric buses just make sense. Their CHTC buses cost about $87,000 each. A BYD bus in the US can run $400,000 to $500,000. They run 120 to 150 km a day on a 161 kWh battery and charge once a night. And there's a diesel bus they converted to electric themselves. Great look at what electric transport looks like in the Himalayas. youtu.be/M8MWwN9zn-8

Interesting perspective. – at Longview, WA
We need an LCOE for transportation. LCOT! LCOT is the levelized cost of transportation. LCOE tells you what energy really costs over its whole life. LCOT should tell you what a trip really costs, and that has to include your time. Run that math and it becomes obvious that what @boringcompany is doing with the Loop and what @Tesla is doing with @robotaxi is a huge deal. Most arguments for bus and train depend on the potential capacity of the vehicle, not actual behavior. Actual passenger behavior is the most important thing in transportation. Most trips are 1 or 2 people going point to point. USDOT puts average car occupancy at about 1.5 people. Trains and buses require people to gather and wait. That is a lot of wasted time. And they almost never run full. Federal transit data shows the average US bus carries about 6 or 7 passengers at any given moment. My rough LCOT estimates, per passenger mile, with your time included: Robotaxi: about $1.00 Personal car: about $1.15 Light rail: about $5 Bus: about $6.90 Loop: a 2 minute ride instead of a 45 minute walk saves about $14 of your time We need a way to move people point to point, without wasting your time or your money. That's what LCOT would prove. @elonmusk Notes: Time valued at $19.40 an hour (USDOT), doubled for waiting and walking. Transit is operating cost only (NTD 2024), no capital cost. Car is AAA 2025 cost split across 1.5 people. Robotaxi uses Tesla's 30 to 40 cent target fare, not today's price, and counts ride time as yours to use. Wait, walk and speed numbers are my assumptions.

Here's why Waymo's approach simply can't compete with a clean sheet vehicle like Cybercab. Am I wrong @EricETesla @larsmoravy
Can anyone match Tesla on cost per mile? @FutureAZA put it bluntly: the self-driving upfit on a Waymo alone has as many parts as a Cybercab, costs as much as a Cybercab, and pulls as much power as an entire Cybercab. Then there's service. Tesla already has service centers that sit quiet overnight, plus the largest charging network in the world at wholesale cost. A new Waymo market means finding and vetting outside shops first. A penny here, a penny there, and per mile it adds up fast. $TSLA
