Splits for this week at the Tigers Den: Open off the Tee, High Penalty for Missed Fairway, Paspalum, Easy Scoring, WINDY
A very unique combination of splits. This course is as wide open as it gets, field hits nearly 90% of fairways. But missed fairways are worth 0.7 strokes on average so if you miss 3 or 4 fairways then you’re probably giving away more than 2 shots to the field. This combination is very similar to what we see at Black Desert
Then Easy Scoring but very windy forecast. Those two splits will battle it out but given this has been one of the easiest courses to score on historically, I would still expect easy scoring in the wind.

🚨This is the true shape of our planet, known as GEOID.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The video shows a geoid model with 10,000x vertical exaggeration per NASA. The geoid is an equipotential surface of Earth's gravity field approximating mean sea level, not the planet's physical shape or surface.

It’s an odd one, seeing Spieth sit out most the fall.
I guess if he’s going to get an invite anyway, letting others pass him in the fall will only help the field strength for those first two Signatures next year
What a terrible feature. If this is true.
Spotify just announced a feature that could either save the music industry or destroy it.
Starting as early as Q1 2027, Spotify Premium subscribers will be able to use AI to transform any participating artist’s song into a completely different version. Turn a folk ballad into a dance track. Make a hip-hop song sound acoustic. Generate a cover where one artist’s voice performs another artist’s song. Remix a pop hit into lo-fi study music. Create the version of your favorite song that only existed in your head until now.
The remixes will be uploaded directly to Spotify. They’ll appear in playlists. They’ll count toward the original song’s chart position. And most importantly the original artist will earn royalties every time someone listens to a fan-created remix of their work.
Spotify has already signed a landmark licensing deal with Universal Music Group the world’s largest record label. Negotiations with Sony Music and Warner Music are ongoing. The feature will cost an additional $4–$5/month on top of Spotify Premium. And analysts project 7–8% of American subscribers will adopt it by 2028.
This is not Suno or Udio generating music from text prompts. This is fans remixing real songs by real artists with the artists’ permission, on the world’s largest streaming platform, with royalties flowing back to the creators.
A music industry analyst who’s covered streaming economics for 15 years told her team something after reading the licensing agreement that reframed how she understood the future of recorded music.
“Spotify just turned 640 million listeners into 640 million potential remixers. The question isn’t whether people will use it they will. The question is whether paying artists for fan remixes solves the economics of streaming or creates a world where the original recording is worth less than the infinite remixes generated from it.”
Here’s what Spotify’s AI remix feature actually is, who wins, who loses, and why this might be the most consequential decision in the music industry since the launch of streaming itself 🧵
Sounds like Bland might just retire. How long until he can get amateur status back?
🚨🏌️😔 #BLINDSIDED — Former Cleeks GC star Richard Bland tells @TheScotsman that he was not expecting LIV Golf to fold.
“Yeah, I was surprised. I read it for the first time yesterday on social media when I woke up. Yeah, I wasn’t expecting that. Everything I was aware of was positive and it looked like it was going to move forward. So, yeah, to wake up to that was not what I was expecting.”
“…We were kind of hearing that they’d got the players. Or they’d got enough players that would support it. Obviously they’d have had to get more players, but, yeah, I wasn’t expecting it.”
On what he’d say to Scott O’Neil: “In all fairness, I don’t think there is anything to say. What can you change? Maybe the communication could have been better the last seven days because I am sure they probably knew what was going on. Yeah, to read it on social media is not ideal. But it is what it is and I can’t change it. So just move on.”
On what Bland will do next: “Obviously it has left me a little bit up in the air. I don’t really have a huge amount of options outside of LIV. Obviously I can come and play on this circuit (the European Legends Tour) if I want to. Right now the Champions Tour is a pretty closed shop, so I can really do anything there for another nine months or so and, even then, I don’t know what I would have. Not much from what I’ve heard. We’ll just have to wait and see.”
“I’m done kind of chasing the game. I’m not going to chase it any more. I haven’t got the desire to do that. I could rejoin the tour, but my category isn’t going to be great. I don’t want to go to places where I don’t want to be playing. I’d much rather go where I want to play. I’ve kind of closed the book on the DP World Tour and that’s fine, I’ve dealt with that. I’ve got no desire to go back there and play full time.”
“Right now, I am looking forward to spending a bit of time at home after this week. But LIV has put me in that fortunate position where I don’t have to make any hasty decisions. If I want to take a little bit of time off, I can take some time off.”

I was going to make a joke about it needing to transition to the Champions Tour where it belongs… but that’s actually where it’s going.

Sami Valimaki: Dominic Bott ➝ Greg Milne
Valimaki has been MIA for most of the season and now reappears with a new face on his bag. He and Dom Bott had some on-course friction earlier this year, so the split isn't a surprise. Milne used to loop for Robert MacIntyre.

Another change for Ventura, who's found success late in the year by keeping things fresh. Steve "Pepsi" Hale is best known for his stints with Keegan Bradley and Ryan Gerard.
