.@NigelBiggar .@ThinkAnglicans Jason Arday's death is partly the fault of those who failed to tell him the truth about his limited abilities, because they feared being called racist. Bishops and others who have also bitten their tongues will be to blame when the Church of England's reckless plan to spend £100m on slavery reparations is exposed as the naked emperor it is: nigelbiggar.co.uk/p/arday-an…

Is A Man for All Seasons the most perfect film ever made?
George Weigel revisits Fred Zinnemann’s 1966 classic, and finds a movie whose performances, screenplay, cinematography, music, and portrayal of St. Thomas More remain remarkably hard to fault.

The Arday Affair is no longer only about Jason Arday.
It is about the professors who appointed him, the institutions that failed to scrutinise him, and an academic culture in which victim identity can too easily become a shield against criticism, evidence and accountability.
Cambridge should investigate, but a local inquiry is not enough. We need a national inquiry into the corrupting effect of identity politics on our universities.

Okay. But what do you do when you “start a war” simply by existing and the geopolitical equivalent of a serial killer doesn’t think you should exist?
This is some dishonorable, repugnant, shit.

I wrote this article back in 2020. It seems appropriate to post it again. I should note that there is a difference between being a "political priest", the subject to which the article is addressed, and a priest who has politics.

If our identity—ethnic, racial, sexual, whatever—is so intrinsic to who we are, and so meaningfully different from other identities, why would we expect to see proportional representation across our society? If these identity-based and cultural differences matter, then it makes perfect sense that some kinds of people would be under- or overrepresented in different fields and facets of public life. That's not "racial inequity," that's just a fact of life!
