.@NigelBiggar .@ThinkAnglicans Jason Arday's death is partly the fault of those who failed to tell him the truth about his limited abilities, because they feared being called racist. Bishops and others who have also bitten their tongues will be to blame when the Church of England's reckless plan to spend £100m on slavery reparations is exposed as the naked emperor it is: nigelbiggar.co.uk/p/arday-an…

Is A Man for All Seasons the most perfect film ever made?
George Weigel revisits Fred Zinnemann’s 1966 classic, and finds a movie whose performances, screenplay, cinematography, music, and portrayal of St. Thomas More remain remarkably hard to fault.

The Arday Affair is no longer only about Jason Arday.
It is about the professors who appointed him, the institutions that failed to scrutinise him, and an academic culture in which victim identity can too easily become a shield against criticism, evidence and accountability.
Cambridge should investigate, but a local inquiry is not enough. We need a national inquiry into the corrupting effect of identity politics on our universities.

Okay. But what do you do when you “start a war” simply by existing and the geopolitical equivalent of a serial killer doesn’t think you should exist?
This is some dishonorable, repugnant, shit.

If our identity—ethnic, racial, sexual, whatever—is so intrinsic to who we are, and so meaningfully different from other identities, why would we expect to see proportional representation across our society? If these identity-based and cultural differences matter, then it makes perfect sense that some kinds of people would be under- or overrepresented in different fields and facets of public life. That's not "racial inequity," that's just a fact of life!

When you come to the Bible, you need to shake your mind free from human political or ideological categories--liberal, socialist, conservative, populist. The Bible does not fit fully in any of them, and you should not be trying to read the Bible through those kinds of glasses.

Did the demise of the TV “test pattern” giving the nation a few hours of precious silence every night mark the end of civil discourse in favor of voyeurism and profits? #Episcopal priest @fwschmidt makes a compelling argument that it did. patheos.com/blogs/whatgodwan…

Have the guts to do what you know is right in Christ’s sight. Do we think when God called us to live for his approval alone & not for the approval of people, he only meant if it didn’t cost us much? We’ll never be able to keep the approval of people. Do what is right before God.

The gist of this episode as I heard it is that while mainliners have tried to make Christianity inclusive, we've taken away what's exclusive, or in my words, special/compelling about the faith. @denminn @fwschmidt

Very thankful for my friends at @COGS_Brentwood. This Easter season my wife and I are preaching the Lectionary passages from Revelation. The bible study I attended on apocalyptic literature is really helpful in preaching the hope and victory of the resurrection in the book.

We’re so used to posturing and talking points and brand management from politicians that it’s almost breathtaking to witness actual courage, resolve, and leadership. No one pretends Zelensky isn’t flawed, but the man is rising to the moment.
