Linear CEO @karrisaarinen: "I took a break this summer from paying attention to AI. I thought that when I came back, I'd feel left behind. But when I came back, I realized that nothing has really changed.
There's new models, there's new techniques, there's new agents. But in the end, making great products, increasing revenue, and building the business—it's still hard.
It's clear the tools are getting better, you can do more, you can do it faster. But I think the more important question is: are we actually making better things with these tools? Are our teams getting better with these tools?
I don't think that answer is clearly yes.
There's a lot of emphasis now on toolmaking and using tools and building systems. But I think in the end, as product people, our job is to make something great."

We aggregated five years of Google Flights data to find the best booking windows for holiday travel this year. Here’s what to know:
✈️ For Thanksgiving travel, flights tend to be cheapest in October.
✈️ For Christmas travel, the sweet spot for booking is 56 days out (October 30th).
✈️ Connecting flights can also be a big money saver. Nonstop tickets are 20% more expensive on average.
✈️ When you travel is key for saving: Departing on a Monday and returning on a Tuesday or Wednesday saves about 14% over weekend flights (and up to 20% domestically versus Sunday).
✈️ Wednesday beat Tuesday as the absolute cheapest day to book a flight, but the difference is negligible — buying a ticket on a Wednesday only saves you about 1.4% compared to Sunday, the most expensive day.

Sorry, Seb, usually lots of love for your work, but how is Europe now having n=2 players in the LLM game a generational fumble for Mistral? Can we please just celebrate having more teams who try and build models, rather than immediately using this as a reason to hate on either? Europe‘s market is big enough for several sovereign players (btw, the world is also a pretty nice TAM) and different models (from my understanding Mistral is working on a much bigger model).
What a generational fumble from Mistral.
The French startup was meant to be the sovereign AI alternative in Europe.
Instead, it moved away from building models to applications and infrastructure.
It decided to move away just at the time when open source models became good enough and cheap enough to be viable.
Now Aleph Alpha has swooped in with a cheap, high-performing, open-source model.
The German company has raised about 15% of the cash that Mistral has riased.
Calling it revenue source probably goes a bit too far. This implies that big tech will continuously pay some kind of fine.
Interesting idea overall though :D
Outrun x @langfuse 7:00 am community run was a pretty good idea

Ehm 😱
After co-inventing ChatGPT, I kept asking myself: why have superhuman chat models not led to AGI?
I’ve spent the last 2 years in stealth building a new way to train models (RLCD), and a new type of frontier AI model that we are releasing today: Jev
• 20-200x faster
• 40-400x cheaper (w/ output tokens free)
• Frontier composable intelligence optimized for decisions
AFAICT the shortest path to AI-based economic revolution

what’s a better way to feel the agi than go running at 7am around paris?
none.
which is why during AI Engineer, @fxln22 & I teamed up with @langfuse to bring you a scenic 5k run through paris.
breakfast & coffee on us ☕
remember, nobody can trap you in a 30-minute conversation if you simply run faster 😉

Germany's autonomous vehicle regulations have made it a hotspot for autonomous vehicle testing and eventual commercial robotaxi deployment.

The Austrian company, which helps European soccer teams maximize their athletes’ abilities, is gearing up to cross the pond.
Health-tech startup Biolyz conducts saliva testing for professional sports teams, providing analysis on dozens of biomarkers that touch immunology, inflammation, sleep, hydration, psychological stress and more. The clubs use that data, as well as additional information gathered through other testing methods, to aid in the management of the training loads and performance of their athletes.
