🚨 New paper alert! 🚨
The final study from my PhD 🎓
Using high-density EMG, we show that motor unit behaviour changes during recovery from damaging eccentric exercise and contributes to the repeated bout effect, without accompanying changes in reticulospinal drive in the TA.

Latest paper 🚨 During fatiguing isometric contractions with BFR, neuromuscular fatigue and pain increase. Lower-threshold motor units reduce firing, while higher-threshold motor units increase firing and are recruited at lower forces. An acute neural strategy to maintain force?

What an exciting #ecss2025 congress & chance to connect!
I shared data on high-load/BFR training, highlighting the key role of mechanical tension in neuromuscular adaptation - plus potential sex-specific differences.
Big thanks to @goodall_stuart & the ECSS mentoring programme
A nice team photo of all attendees from NU, some photoshopped in thanks to @JustinAndrushko 🤣. A great week had by all, brilliant to share our work across a range of disciplines #ECSS2025 #wearesportscience @NUSportEx
Great to have @ElisaNedelec and @PaulAnsdell wrapping things up for NU in the final session of #ECSS2025 - lovely job 😃 👏🏻 @NUSportEx
