Federal officials are organizing a call for Thursday with airline industry representatives to plan for potential weather disruptions over the July 4 weekend, according to an industry source familiar with the matter.
The industry and @FAANews have been arguing over who is least prepared for high summer demand. Industry says FAA is understaffed, especially at a key facility in Florida. FAA says it is shifting employees to cover gaps and that airlines are struggling to recover from weather.
Wednesday marked the second consecutive day with more than 600 US flight cancelations, according to @flightaware data.
“After the passenger was restrained in flex cuffs, she spit at, headbutted, bit and tried to kick the crew and other passengers.” Fined $81,950

A snapshot of the nonsensical violence onboard planes that flight attendants and pilots are dealing with: cnn.com/travel/article/faa-u… @petemuntean @cnn
“began punching one of the flight attendants”
“yelled at the crewmember to ‘get his fat a** out of my face,’ and then pushed him”
There’s more: “shoved a crewmember”
“spat on a crewmember”
“threatened a flight attendant by saying he was going to ‘[expletive] up his a**.’”
“struck a flight attendant on the right forearm, and attempted to do so again”
One piece of evidence: this steering wheel damage. Photo from @NTSB_Newsroom:
NEW: Many flight attendants would get more guaranteed time off between the next workday under a @FAANews proposal. It would require 10+ hours of time off duty before the next shift, up from the current 8 or 9 hour standard. Some union contracts set higher requirements.
Replying to @FAA_Billy
@FAA_Steve will tell Congress the FAA is more diligently inspecting the work of plane manufacturers since the crashes of two @Boeing 737 MAX jets killed 346 people: "our approach to aircraft certification and safety oversight has changed."
@RepPeterDeFazio will say he is “encouraged” by the FAA’s work.
But families of second 737 MAX crash say the FAA has not done enough oversight of @Boeing, and want the agency to revoke Boeing’s delegated authority.
Mark Forkner, the @Boeing employee who bragged about Jedi mind tricking regulators into approving the 737 MAX, has been indicted for fraud. Boeing already agreed to pay a $2.5 billion fine for its “misleading statements, half-truths, and omissions.”
CNN EXCLUSIVE: Airline passengers are bringing guns to the airport in numbers never seen before, and it is a “huge problem,” @TSA_Pekoske tells @petemuntean. Officers have found
4,650 firearms in the first 10 months of the year surpassing the full-year record of 4,432 from 2019.
