“Why do some British people dislike Donald Trump?”
Nate White, an eloquent and witty English writer, gave this magnificent answer:
Trump lacks certain qualities that the British traditionally value.
He has no nobility, no charm, no composure, no gravitas, no compassion, no wit, no warmth, no wisdom, no subtlety, no sensitivity, no self-awareness, no humility, no honour, and no grace — qualities with which, strangely enough, his predecessor, Mr Obama, was abundantly blessed.
Although Trump may be ridiculous, he has never said anything ironic, amusing, or even remotely funny — not once, ever. I do not mean this rhetorically. I mean it literally: never. To the British, a lack of humour is almost inhuman.
But with Trump, it is a fact. He does not even seem to understand what a joke is. To him, a joke is a crude remark, an illiterate insult, an act of casual cruelty.
Trump is like a troll: he never laughs or enjoys himself; he merely squeals with delight or derision.
And the most frightening thing is that he does not merely utter crude and stupid insults: he actually means them. His mind is nothing more than a robotic algorithm of petty prejudices and instinctive malice.
There is no irony in him, no complexity, no subtlety, no depth. Everything is superficial. What we see is a man without an inner world, without a soul.
In Britain, we traditionally side with David, not Goliath. All our heroes are courageous underdogs: Robin Hood, Dick Whittington, Oliver Twist.
Trump is neither courageous nor an underdog. He is the exact opposite.
He is not even merely a spoiled rich boy or a greedy fat cat. He is more like a giant white slug, a privileged Jabba the Hutt.
And, worse still, he is a bully.
When he finds himself among other bullies, he suddenly becomes a whining lackey.
He punches down — something a gentleman should never, could never, and must never do — and every blow he delivers is below the belt. He particularly enjoys attacking the vulnerable or the voiceless, and he kicks them when they are down.
That is why the fact that a substantial minority — perhaps a third — of Americans watch what he does, listen to what he says, and then think, “Yes, he seems like my kind of guy,” is a source of bewilderment and profound distress to the British.
After all, it is impossible to read a single tweet of his or hear him utter a sentence or two without staring into the abyss. He turns shallowness into an art form. He is the Picasso of pettiness, the Shakespeare of shit. His flaws are fractal: even his flaws have flaws, and so on to infinity.
There have always been stupid people in the world, and villains have never been in short supply either. But rarely has stupidity been so evil, or evil so stupid.
He makes Nixon seem trustworthy and George W. Bush seem intelligent.
If Frankenstein had decided to create a monster composed entirely of human flaws, he would have created Trump, and the remorseful Dr Frankenstein would have cried out in despair, “My God, what have I created?”
If an idiot were a television show, Trump would be the entire set.

Announcing AA-PersonalityBench, our new benchmark of the personality of language models across 30 traits and their communication style across 21 characteristics
Two models can give equally correct answers and still feel very different to use. AA-PersonalityBench measures those differences so people can understand which to use in different use-cases. Some use-cases like creative writing might demand imagination, while legal use-cases might demand directness. We evaluate models’ answers to 900 curated questions to judge subjective Personality Traits and programmatic means to calculate objective Communication Characteristics.
Personality Traits & Indexes. There are 30 personality traits (e.g., eloquent, pragmatic, sycophantic) which we roll up into eight aggregated Personality Indexes: Expressiveness, Organization, Informativeness, Transparency, Warmth, Conviction, Imagination and Slop. 🇺🇦 Ein russischer Militärsatellit hängt jetzt dreist auf 26 Metern neben dem Satelliten, der der Ukraine Bilder liefert.
Als bedrohlich gilt eine Annäherung im Orbit schon ab einem Kilometer.
Kosmos-2612 erreichte diesen Abstand zu ICEYE-X36 heute laut berechneten Bahndaten, bei einer Relativgeschwindigkeit von null. Beide fliegen im Gleichtakt nebeneinander her.
ICEYE ist eine finnische Firma, ihr Satellit macht Radarbilder auch durch Wolken und bei Nacht und beliefert seit 2022 die ukrainische Armee.
Ende September begann Kosmos-2612 eine Serie von Manövern.
Am 12. Oktober änderte er seine Geschwindigkeit um 27,9 Meter pro Sekunde und kam so auf die Höhe des ICEYE-Satelliten.
Er gehört zu fünf russischen Satelliten, die im April starteten und im Mai ihre Bahn schon einmal auf diesen Satelliten ausgerichtet hatten.
Als Zufall lässt sich das kaum noch verkaufen.
Das Washingtoner Institut CSIS warnte am 15. Oktober, dass Kosmos-2612 den Satelliten bedrohen könnte, und ordnet das in Moskaus Grauzonen-Politik gegen die USA und Europa ein.
Der Raumfahrtanalyst Georgi Trischkin sieht darin den Versuch, den Betreiber zu Ausweichmanövern zu zwingen, die Treibstoff und Lebensdauer kosten.

🇺🇸🇺🇦 Trump gibt Selenskyj die Schuld am Krieg und legt im selben Atemzug die Sanktionen gegen Russland auf Eis.
Auf Truth Social schreibt Trump am Sonntag, Selenskyj wolle den Krieg nicht beenden und habe es wahrscheinlich nie gewollt.
Die Ukraine liege in Trümmern, ein großer Teil ihres Landes sei verloren, ihre Ozeane und Meere seien weg und ihre Männer seien wenige, verwundet oder tot.
Anlass sind die ukrainischen Schläge auf russische Dieselraffinerien. Sie schadeten dem Weltmarkt und amerikanischen Bauern, klagt Trump. Russland liefere ja Millionen Barrel Diesel zu niedrigen Preisen. Das Sanktionspaket des Kongresses vom September bleibt unsigniert, er könne es jederzeit unterschreiben. Russland helfe dem Iran kaum, schreibt er weiter, und das solle so bleiben.
Selenskyj antwortet am Montag, die Ukraine habe diesen Krieg nie gewollt.
Am selben Tag lehnt die EU-Kommission den US-Vorschlag ab, wieder russisches Gas zu kaufen. Die Sanktionen bleiben nach den Worten von Sprecherin Paula Pinho bis zum Kriegsende.

Raccoglie le proteste avvenute in Europa tra il 21 settembre e il 17 ottobre 2026. Francia, Italia, Spagna, Belgio, Austria, Portogallo. Centinaia di migliaia di persone in piazza per salari, pensioni, caro affitti, scuola, spese militari e altre questioni sociali.
A pubblicarla è Rybar, una delle più importanti strutture di propaganda filorussa, fondata da un ex appartenente all’apparato comunicativo della Difesa russa e con legami documentati con l’ambiente di Prigožin.
Perché un’organizzazione del genere dovrebbe interessarsi tanto alle manifestazioni europee?
La risposta merita qualche riflessione.
La Russia conduce da anni una guerra ibrida contro l’Europa. Cyberattacchi, sabotaggi, disinformazione, interferenze politiche e operazioni per alimentare divisioni interne. Non sono fantasie complottiste, ma attività documentate dalle intelligence occidentali.
Ora aggiungiamo qualche elemento.
L’avvicinamento di una parte dell’estrema destra europea al mondo MAGA. Il sostegno pubblico di Musk all’AfD tedesca. Le posizioni di Trump nei confronti dell’Unione Europea. I rapporti di alcuni movimenti sovranisti con Mosca.
Si comincia a intravedere uno scenario piuttosto interessante. E preoccupante.
Una protesta legittima contro il carovita può diventare, attraverso migliaia di account, influencer e canali di propaganda, la dimostrazione che l’Europa sta crollando. Che Bruxelles è il nemico. Che le sanzioni alla Russia ci stanno distruggendo. Che aiutare l’Ucraina significa impoverire i cittadini europei.
Rafforzare i partiti che contestano le istituzioni europee, alimentare la sfiducia nei governi, ostacolare le decisioni comuni, bloccare gli aiuti militari a Kyiv e indebolire progressivamente l’Unione.
E c’è uno scenario ancora più pericoloso: la sovrapposizione tra campagne di disinformazione, tensioni sociali e operazioni di sabotaggio. Una crisi reale può essere amplificata artificialmente fino a diventare una crisi politica.
Naturalmente, questo non dimostra che Trump, Musk e i servizi russi operino sotto una regia comune. Sarebbe un’affermazione senza prove. Ma gli interessi possono convergere anche senza un accordo formale, e alcuni effetti politici possono favorire contemporaneamente attori molto diversi. Ed è evidente a tutti il sorprendente avvicinamento (tradimento) di Trump a Putin di queste ora
Putin vuole un’Europa debole e divisa. Una parte dell’estrema destra vuole ridimensionare o smantellare l’Unione. Trump considera spesso Bruxelles un avversario economico e politico.
Obiettivi differenti, con possibili risultati sorprendentemente simili.
E arriviamo alla questione politica.
Chi pensa che la guerra russa riguardi soltanto qualche territorio ucraino continua a non comprendere la dimensione dello scontro.
L’Ucraina è il fronte militare. L’Europa è anche un bersaglio politico, economico e informativo.
Per Mosca non è indispensabile conquistare militarmente una capitale europea. Può essere molto più conveniente contribuire a portare al governo forze disposte a paralizzare l’Unione dall’interno.
E mentre discutiamo se aiutare ancora gli ucraini a difendersi, dovremmo cominciare a chiederci quanto siamo preparati a difendere le nostre democrazie
