Seriously. I'm begging here. Can someone please explain to me the morality behind demanding that a middle-class family that doesn't qualify for this subsidy and which has two parents working to make ends meet because 30% of their paychecks go to taxes should bear the financial responsibility of another family whose mom now gets to stay home with HER kiddos because she's getting a government check to do so?
I want ALL MOMS to be able to stay home if they want to. But if we're saying we want to support SAHMs, that support must be available to everyone, which we simply cannot afford. Otherwise, we're simply demanding some families put their kids in daycare and go to work so that other, poorer families don't have to.
Which is called redistribution of wealth. Which, yes, is socialism.
