Want to see #privilege? These two readings of the #AQI sum it up . One without the air purifier and one with it . Now imagine those out on the streets without access to this privilege .. #AirPollution #DelhiNCR

This was from Jahangirpuri last year — the grand idea of fighting pollution was to spray water at the AQI monitoring machines. Same thing happening this year.

#BREAKING: Bombay High Court slams BJP leaders for criticising a videoclip wherein Bollywood Actor Dia Mirza had appealed citizens to avoid bursting firecrackers on public streets as ordered by the High Court. She was roped in to create awareness on the issue by the BMC, however, after the opposition by BJP leaders, the video was pulled down from the BMC's social media handle. Bench of Justice Girish Kulkarni & Justice Dr Neela Gokhale said "they are disturbed by the stray comments made by some politicians" and reminded them that "India is a Secular country." Judges have ordered the BMC to restore the deleted video @mybmc @deespeak #BMC #BombayHighCourt

– at Delhi, India

I was not the compulsive firecracker bursting type of a person for #Deepawali, but I am SO sick and tired of courts, zombie politicians and every woke libtard and their grandmother lecturing only to Hindus on how to celebrate our festivals, that I have started buying crackers not just for myself, but for children from a nearby basti. Where is this fake outrage against pollution when the rich and the famous use fuel guzzling SUVs? If you agree, RT this tweet.

AQI 570. Read that again. That's not "poor." It's not "severe." It's hazardously off the scale. This is the air outside your door right now, and your lungs don't get a day off. Knowing the air you breathe is important now more than ever. AQI.in is your platform, use it, and use it well. Stay AQI aware, with AQI.in. #DelhiAQI #DelhiPollution #AirEmergency #AQI

#WATCH | Delhi: On air pollution, Chairman, Institute of Internal Medicine, Respiratory & Sleep Medicine, Medanta Gurugram, Dr Randeep Guleria, says, "The AQI has now reached the severe or very severe range, which is very troublesome and poses a major challenge, especially for people with chronic respiratory problems, chronic heart disease, young children, and the elderly. Every year, when the AQI hits the severe range, we see an increase in the number of patients coming to the emergency with breathing difficulties and coughs, many of whom have to be admitted to the ward or ICU...with the AQI being so bad, it affects not only those with chronic problems, but even normal people start experiencing chest tightness, breathlessness, watering of their eyes, and coughing. For individuals with COPD, asthma, and heart problems, their primary condition worsens because air pollution causes increased inflammation in the lungs and vessels, leading to a worsening of the underlying disease, a drop in oxygen saturation, and increased breathlessness. He adds, "We look at both emissions and weather factors. The Indo-Gangetic Plain is a landlocked area where, in winter, cold air causes pollution to settle at ground level with low wind velocity, preventing it from moving away, unlike what might happen in coastal areas. Secondly, emissions increase due to factors like stubble burning, increased use of diesel, more vehicles on the road, and crackers...crop burning, crackers, diesel use in generators or other equipment, and construction all need to be looked at, and a multi-pronged approach is required to address all factors leading to high emission rates. Stopping crackers and decreasing crop burning would help in a big way." He further adds, "...air pollution is a silent killer—it kills by worsening underlying diseases and other health problems...it decreases your lifespan and leads to stunted lung growth in children, with studies showing that children's lung functions get impaired if they are exposed to such high levels of poor quality air. To prevent and manage health risks in this situation, I suggest the following measures: take medications regularly: If you are on medication or inhalers, do not miss them, and consult your doctor if your breathlessness increases. Avoid going out: Stay indoors when the AQI is very bad. If you must go out, wear a mask—an N95 mask is the best. Go out only when the sun is out, and it is warm. Keep windows and doors closed. Use air purifiers. Avoid outdoor exercise."

For this episode of Aaj Ka AQI, @khushimehrotraa went to Anand Vihar, where the official monitor pegged PM2.5 at 72. But our own air monitor estimated PM2.5 at no less than 226, or in the ‘very poor’ category. Join the #FightToBreathe: rzp.io/rzp/T4Ob0FCb

Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) slipped to the ‘very poor’ category on November 1. This is the first time a ‘very poor’ AQI has been recorded in the city this season. The air quality index of above 300 poses a risk of respiratory problems and other illnesses with prolonged exposure. In comparison with other major cities, including Mumbai and Kolkata, recorded ‘Satisfactory’ air quality. Swipe to see their AQI readings from Monday morning. While the readings offer some relief for these cities, Delhi’s pollution levels remain a serious concern. Residents, particularly children, older people and those with respiratory conditions, are advised take precautions and limit prolonged outdoor exposure.

A thick layer of smog blanketed parts of Mumbai on Monday morning, reducing visibility and raising concerns over deteriorating air quality. Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data showed an AQI of 131 at Bandra Reclamation, in the moderate category. However, several other neighbourhoods recorded unhealthy levels, with Dahisar East at 165, Borivali West at 162 and Juhu at 161. PM2.5 concentrations stood at 65 micrograms per cubic metre, while PM10 levels were recorded at 78 micrograms per cubic metre. Fine particulate matter can penetrate deep into the respiratory system, posing health risks. Children, senior citizens and people with respiratory or cardiovascular conditions are particularly vulnerable and should limit outdoor exposure when air quality is poor.
