पूरी रिपोर्ट पढ़ें: carboncopy.info/nepal-s-floo… #ClimateFinance #LossAndDamage #COP31

Nepal needs billions to rebuild. The Loss and Damage Fund is responding with millions. The devastating floods in Nepal have exposed a fundamental injustice at the heart of global climate finance. Recovery and reconstruction needs are estimated at $4.77 billion, while the Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage (FRLD) has provisionally allocated just $21.6 million. As COP31 approaches, the question is no longer whether vulnerable countries need support. It is whether the world’s wealthier nations are willing to provide it at the scale—and with the urgency—that the climate crisis demands. My latest report for @carboncopyinfo examines the funding shortfall, what it means for India and South Asia, and why predictable finance, rapid disbursement and regional cooperation must be central to the response. First, the frame. The petition rests on an investigation by @IndianExpress revealing 14 objections by Election Commissioners Vivek Joshi and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, recorded over 10 months, objecting to decisions taken in the Commission’s name without their knowledge. The affidavit doesn’t dispute a single note. It only says that the Commission “has neither released nor authorised the release” of them. (2/10)

Some media articles say that ‘GLOBAL HUNGER INDEX rpt is released every 6 yrs. It is rather an ANNUAL report. But what rpt suggests is that a year’s report can’t compared with preceding one due to difference in methodology. Eg, GHI 2026 can be compared with GHI 2018, so 6 yrs.

#CycloneArnab #Arnab #CycloneAlert

On ECINET (the software on which electoral roll now sits) it says the ERO (Electoral Registration Officer) remains the legal authority and announces a committee with IIT Mumbai and IISc experts to check the software complies with the law. What it doesn’t say: that this is Joshi’s proposal of May 29, almost to the word, which Sandhu endorsed in July and recorded in August that it had gone nowhere. The affidavit only presents it as the Commission’s September decision. (4/10)

We at The Reporters Collective @reporters_co, a tiny non-profit newsroom, stood up to defend journalism against govt attempt to paralyse the profession through a Trojan horse in the Privacy law. We filed a case before the Supreme Court in February 2026 and launchedwww.rti404.com, a watchdog project to protect RTI and journalism, both. Months later the for- profit big media businesses have realised, not just journalism but revenue of their media business would be hurt too by what the govt is doing. Personally, I am glad they have eventually seen value in joining us. Read Our Statement from February 16, 2026. 👇 reporters-collective.in/blog…
EXCLUSIVE: India’s biggest news publishers including Ambani's Network18, Adani's NDTV, Indian Express, Times Internet & others mount the most high-profile challenge yet to Modi’s privacy law, warning it would “render investigative journalism a benign and neutered recorder of events.” DNPA (@publishers_news) has taken the law to the Supreme Court. They argue it would trample investigative work and let New Delhi identify journalists’ sources. The provisions “constitute pre-censorship which is anathema to any democracy worth its name,” the group’s 698-page filing says. The key concerns: 🔹 Consent: requiring a journalist to notify the subject of an investigation and seek consent “would allow that subject to destroy evidence, intimidate witnesses” 🔹 Erasure: people can withdraw consent and demand their data be erased, which the group says could force publishers to unpublish or heavily redact news reports 🔹 Sources: a “nakedly unguided” power to demand information that “can extend to privileged communications in possession of a reporter or the informant” In a letter to the government, the group said India “has chosen to grant broad exemptions to the state, while failing to extend any corresponding protection to the press.” reuters.com/business/media-t…
