🌀 **BREAKING: SUBTROPICAL STORM JOSEPHINE FORMS — WINDS AT 65 MPH**
The National Hurricane Center has officially designated **Subtropical Storm Josephine**, the 10th named storm of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season. Previously identified as Invest 93L, Josephine has developed over the western Atlantic, several hundred miles off the northeastern United States.
🌀 **INTENSITY & FORECAST TRACK**
Josephine is a large subtropical cyclone with an expansive wind field. Additional strengthening is forecast over the next 24–36 hours, with maximum sustained winds potentially reaching **80 mph by early Friday** as the system transitions into a powerful post-tropical cyclone.
Josephine is expected to turn northeastward Thursday and accelerate into the open North Atlantic, passing south of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. **A direct landfall along the U.S. East Coast is not anticipated.**
🌊 **COASTAL IMPACTS**
Despite remaining offshore, Josephine's enormous circulation is already producing hazardous conditions across portions of the Eastern Seaboard.
Minor to locally moderate coastal flooding is occurring along portions of the Mid-Atlantic coastline, particularly around high tide. Gale-force wind gusts are also possible along portions of the northeastern U.S. coast through Thursday.
Large ocean swells will continue generating dangerous surf and potentially life-threatening rip currents along much of the East Coast and portions of Atlantic Canada.
⚠️ **There are currently no coastal tropical storm or hurricane watches or warnings in effect.**

In spite of Isaias's intensification, its wind field is becoming increasingly asymmetric, with the strongest wind displaced to the right of the storm track.
This will persist as Isaias approaches land, with the most significant wind, surge & tornado threat to its east.
Breaking - Hurricane Isaias has officially strengthened into a major Category 3 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 120 mph and higher gusts, according to newly received Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter data.
The hurricane's minimum central pressure has fallen to 959 mb, indicating continued intensification as Isaias approaches the northern Gulf Coast.
Isaias remains an extremely dangerous hurricane, with destructive winds, life-threatening storm surge, and flooding rainfall threatening coastal Alabama and the Florida Panhandle.
Landfall is expected late tonight or early Saturday. Residents in hurricane warning areas should complete preparations immediately and follow evacuation instructions from local officials.

Breaking - Hurricane #Isaias has strengthened into a Category 2 hurricane with sustained winds of 100 mph, moving northeast at approximately 12 mph across the Gulf. Satellite imagery now reveals a well-defined eye, the first observed during the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season.
Additional strengthening is expected overnight, although increasing wind shear could cause some weakening before landfall late Friday or early Saturday.
The latest computer models continue to favor landfall along coastal Alabama and the western Florida Panhandle, with the NHC forecast track shifting slightly eastward.
EXPECTED IMPACTS:
Storm Surge: Life-threatening coastal flooding of 5–7 feet is possible along portions of Mississippi, Alabama, and the Florida Panhandle.
Rainfall: Widespread totals of 4–8 inches, with isolated amounts approaching 15 inches.
Winds: Destructive hurricane-force winds, downed trees, and widespread power outages.
Flooding: Dangerous flash flooding and possible tornadoes, including areas well inland.
Hurricane and storm surge warnings remain in effect. Conditions will deteriorate Friday, with the greatest impacts expected Friday night into Saturday.
Residents should complete hurricane preparations immediately and follow local evacuation instructions.

**The latest forecast indicates Isaias could approach Category 3 intensity before moving toward the northern Gulf Coast.** Landfall is anticipated late Friday night or early Saturday morning, with the greatest threat currently focused on coastal Alabama and the western Florida Panhandle.
Computer models remain in general agreement on the expected track, although small shifts could significantly change where the strongest winds and highest storm surge occur.
**Hurricane warnings and storm surge warnings are in effect** across portions of the northern Gulf Coast. Residents should prepare for destructive winds, potentially life-threatening storm surge, heavy rainfall, flash flooding, and widespread power outages.
Coastal communities from southeastern Louisiana through the Florida Panhandle should closely monitor Isaias and complete hurricane preparations before conditions deteriorate Friday.
**Even if Isaias weakens before landfall, it could remain an extremely dangerous hurricane with significant impacts extending well inland.**

#Isaias is now a #hurricane - the first of the 2026 Atlantic season. The last season with zero Atlantic hurricanes was 1914. Of course, our observational system is much better now than it was in 1914, so we may have missed hurricane(s) that year.
🌀 BREAKING: ISAIAS STRENGTHENS INTO A HURRICANE!
#Isaias has officially strengthened into a Category 1 hurricane over the Gulf (first of the season), with maximum sustained winds now reaching 75 mph and higher gusts. Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter aircraft confirmed the intensification, measuring a minimum central pressure of 982 mb inside the eye. Isaias continues to organize and strengthen as it approaches the northern Gulf Coast, where hurricane conditions, dangerous storm surge, and heavy rainfall remain significant concerns. Further strengthening is possible before the storm reaches the coast late Friday night into early Saturday. Residents along the northern Gulf Coast should closely monitor updates and prepare for potentially dangerous conditions. hurrtracker.com
