Every accusation is a confession with MAGAts.. Meet MAGAt Patricia Kent, a prominent Utah anti-drag activist and founder of the far-right Liberty Action Coalition, whose aggressive crusade against the LGBTQ+ community ultimately unmasked her own history of allegations regarding inappropriate and overly familiar relationships with young female students. Before launching political campaigns and orchestrating hate-filled rhetoric against local Pride events, Kent worked as a middle school teacher in Washington County, Utah, until a devastating investigation into her private life and her intimate conduct with children completely derailed her career in 1996. During her time as an educator, school officials and state investigators uncovered a pattern of highly inappropriate behavior that led to her forced resignation in 1996. The Utah Professional Practices Advisory Commission found that Kent had used her authority to foster intimate, overly familiar relationships with female students as young as 11. This behavior included giving them gifts, writing intimate notes, and sharing a bed with a student. On January 15, 1998, the Utah State Board of Education initially acted on these findings, leading to the official suspension of her teaching credentials for unprofessional and improper conduct by June 2000 after her appeals failed. Kent attempted to file a federal lawsuit against the school board, but it was settled and dismissed with prejudice in late 2000. Decades after losing her license, Kent re-emerged in the public eye in 2020 by founding her activist group, later adding drag shows to her list of grievances during a failed 2022 write-in bid for county clerk/auditor. Throughout 2022 and beyond, she routinely directed extreme hate speech toward drag shows and LGBTQ+ events, publicly leveling inflammatory and baseless accusations that organizers were "grooming our children for immoral satanic worship". Her public fixation on the safety of children completely backfired in late 2022 when investigative journalists exposed official state records of her past, revealing that the very misconduct she falsely projected onto the LGBTQ+ community mirrored the exact allegations that cost her her own teaching career decades earlier.
