(A Speedrunner Explaining the Grocery Store's Self-Checkout Isle) Yeah so on a 6-sided box you have a 16% chance of scanning the barcode without looking; 33% if we assume it's not on the front. Basically it's worth the RNG risk since the timesave is huge compared to looking first

come to think of it, why doesn’t that work? @dabit3 why isn’t @iameli[email protected] something valid to follow on Mastodon?
Replying to @iameli

the fundamental principle of decentralization: user actions are first-class constructs that exist outside the context of any particular provider (that... needs to be snappier. going to workshop it a little)

if I post on Lens or Scuttlebutt, you can take a look at that "post" artifact and say "oh yeah iameli posted something" without any additional context. decentralized!

this rule puts Mastodon in the "not decentralized" side unfortunately

came up with this syntax for go-livepeer's object stores and i'm unreasonably proud of it. most other usages I've seen have four separate variables for key, secret, host, and bucket — this does all of that in a single string and also lets you specify an optional subpath. clean.
