Restricted Mode isn't new or just rolling out now, it launched in 2010. It's typically used by places like libraries and schools. On individual devices, it's not being turned on automatically, it has to be turned on manually in settings
Creators can check for restricted mode by turning it on in our own accounts, but being able to see it in YouTube Studio is really good feedback and has been passed on to the product team
