🇺🇸 🚨 COINBASE: CLAIMS OF A "CONFIRMED" DATA BREACH AFFECTING 70,000+ USERS SPREAD ONLINE
Posts circulating in crypto and security circles tonight say Coinbase has suffered a data breach, citing a security researcher who says it is confirmed.
What is being claimed:
* Contact information for more than 70,000 Coinbase users was obtained
* No confirmation that passwords, private keys or funds were affected
* No dataset, sample or threat actor has been named publicly
Coinbase has not publicly commented on these reports.
⚠️ Analyst Note:
The 70,000 figure closely matches Coinbase's disclosed May 2025 insider incident, in which bribed support agents exposed data on 69,461 users. It is not yet clear whether this is a new breach or a resurfacing of that one. Either way, expect phishing calls, texts and emails posing as Coinbase support. Coinbase will never ask you to move funds to a "safe" wallet. Unverified claim, NOT confirmation of a new breach.

When you shut down a modern iPhone, the Power Management Unit (PMU) cuts voltage to the main A-series processor, the OLED display, and the camera array. It leaves a separate Low Power Mode (LPM) rail live on the motherboard.
Sitting on that energized rail are three wireless chips: the Bluetooth controller, the NXP NFC controller, and the Apple U1 Ultra-Wideband chip.
Apple built this hardware partition to run "Findable After Power Off," Express Transit passes, and Digital Car Keys when your battery dies. Even with iOS completely unloaded from RAM, those three chips stay powered for up to 24 hours on a manual shutdown (and up to 5 hours on automatic battery reserve).
Right before iOS powers down, it pre-computes 96 rolling NIST P-224 public keys (one for every 15-minute window over the next 24 hours) and sends them to the Bluetooth chip using Host Controller Interface (HCI) commands.
The final HCI command severs communication with the main processor and starts a standalone thread inside the Bluetooth silicon. While the main SoC sits unpowered, the Bluetooth chip wakes up every 2 seconds to broadcast the current P-224 public key over Bluetooth Low Energy. Any passing iPhone or MacBook that hears that broadcast encrypts its own GPS coordinates with your broadcasted public key and relays the packet to Apple servers.
In 2022, researchers at the SEEMOO lab at TU Darmstadt audited this low-power hardware chain ("Evil Never Sleeps") and found a major gap between the three wireless chips.
While the NFC chip runs encrypted and signed firmware and the U1 Ultra-Wideband chip checks cryptographic signatures at boot, the Broadcom Bluetooth chip has neither encryption nor signature verification on its firmware updates.
Broadcom bakes its base Bluetooth firmware into read-only Mask ROM at the factory. To fix bugs and load the standalone Find My feature, iOS writes raw binary patches directly into the chip internal SRAM using a mechanism called PatchRAM (Write_RAM HCI commands). The hardware never checks a cryptographic signature on those RAM patches.
If an attacker already has kernel-level code execution on iOS (through spyware or a local jailbreak exploit), they can overwrite the Bluetooth chip PatchRAM in SRAM before the user powers the phone down.
When the user drags the power-off slider, iOS halts and wipes main system RAM. Because the PMU keeps the LPM power rail alive, the modified Bluetooth firmware stays in SRAM and keeps executing on reserve battery power.
Worse, the TU Darmstadt team showed from iPhone board schematics that the Bluetooth and U1 chips are wired directly to the Secure Element inside the NFC controller via dedicated hardware buses (SE_I2C and R1_WAKE/SYNC) so car keys and transit cards work while the phone is off. Compromised Bluetooth firmware running in LPM can broadcast custom tracking beacons, listen for over-the-air wake commands, or talk directly to the Secure Element over SE_I2C while the main operating system is dead.
Apple lets you tap "Temporarily Turn Off Finding" on the shutdown screen and enter your passcode to disable LPM for that power cycle.
That toggle works if your phone is clean, because a clean iOS kernel tells the PMU to cut the LPM rail. If your phone is already compromised by kernel spyware, the malware controls the shutdown sequence. It can turn off the screen, play the shutdown animation, ignore your toggle, and tell the PMU to keep the patched Bluetooth chip powered in the background.
Once kernel malware can hide inside unverified radio SRAM, a software power-off slider means nothing. Until the battery is physically disconnected from the board or the phone goes inside an RF-shielded Faraday bag, the Bluetooth silicon can stay on the air.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
This is a 2022 proof of concept, not a new discovery. It required prior privileged access to modify Bluetooth firmware on older iPhones. The study documented no real-world attacks, and this post provides no evidence that current models remain vulnerable.

BLACK OCTOBER UPDATE: Hackers have shut down a major hospital network in New Mexico.
Patients urged to stay away. Cancelled surgeries. 30+ clinics.
The attack began at 11:30am.
Employees saw their computers suddenly taken over: "You have been compromised."
AP/KRQE: "One part of a message that could be heard from a computer voice told employees hackers had students’ and employees’ personal and identifiable information along with Social Security numbers, private documents, emails, and more.
KRQE has learned internal communications also told employees to shut off and unplug computers, while also moving to paper processes."
The entire state "left without an emergency department capable of treating the most serious injuries."
The attack started around 11:30 a.m. and forced UNMH to send all ambulance traffic to other hospitals.
"The University of New Mexico Health System told people not to show up at its main hospital in Albuquerque and canceled appointments at its more than 30 clinics.
Multiple UNM Health System employees said they heard messages across their computers while working late Monday morning that claimed to have stolen student and employee data and patient information.
The hospital network conducts about 900,000 outpatient visits and receives 100,000 emergency room visits each year, according to its website. It operates the state’s only Level 1 trauma center."

🚨 Apple users: update your MacOS, iOS and iPadOS to either 27.2 or 26.7.2, depending on what version you are running (better to be on 27).
This release patches 286 vulnerabilities and and fixes an exploited CoreGraphics zero-day to older iPhones (iOS 18).
Roughly 140 of the security holes are shared across the two operating systems.
Some of the fixed stuff:
- Memory corruption bugs in WebKit, the kernel and components that handle images, fonts, PDFs, audio and video files, some of which could be exploited for arbitrary code execution.
- Flaws that could let apps access sensitive user data or bypass privacy preferences
- WebContent sandbox escapes
- Kerberos KDC impersonation issue
- A bug that could give a nearby attacker access to a Thread network.
- Privilege escalation flaws that could give apps root access, as well as sandbox escapes, Gatekeeper bypasses and kernel memory corruption issues in file system and disk image components.
- Security holes in Screen Sharing, Remote Management and SMB that can be targeted remotely or from the local network, including a Remote Management bug that could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code.

🚨 BREAKING: CRITICAL 9.5/10 VULNERABILITY THREATENS SERVERS WORLDWIDE. HACKERS COULD EXECUTE CODE BEFORE THE OPERATING SYSTEM EVEN LOADS.
Security researchers have uncovered a 16-year-old firmware vulnerability in technology used across the global server and data center ecosystem.
CVE-2026-97631 affects TianoCore EDK II, a foundational component used by major UEFI firmware vendors.
And the implications are serious.
🔴 Here's what we know:
➜ Pre-boot code execution: Attackers could execute malicious code at Ring 0, the CPU's highest privilege level, before operating system security controls are active.
➜ Widespread exposure: EDK II code is used extensively by firmware vendors including AMI, Insyde, and Phoenix, potentially exposing numerous enterprise servers.
➜ Security bypass potential: Successful exploitation could undermine the boot chain of trust and potentially enable persistent malware or compromise sensitive information.
➜ 16 YEARS UNDISCOVERED: The underlying buffer overflow has existed for approximately 16 years.
➜ Disclosure went wrong: Researchers from Anthropic and Google discovered the vulnerability, but a publicly released code fix exposed the issue months before its planned coordinated disclosure.
⚠️ THE BIG PROBLEM:
A source-code fix has been merged, but affected servers still require firmware updates from their manufacturers. Distributing those updates across enterprise infrastructure could take considerable time.
Important: Exploitation requires vulnerable firmware, PXE network boot, network access during the boot process, and target-specific knowledge. This is not an unrestricted remote exploit against every server.
Organizations should immediately review their firmware exposure, disable unnecessary network boot functionality, and check for vendor updates.
