FORTRESS: The Pentagon is preparing every major U.S. military base to survive 90 days without outside support — no civilian power grid, no global supply chains, no outside fuel or water. The initiative, revealed in documents reviewed by Fox News Digital, envisions portable nuclear reactors, massive battery storage, and microgrids that can disconnect installations from civilian electricity entirely. Strategic reserves of munitions, fuel, critical minerals, and medical supplies would be stockpiled based on wartime consumption rates. Civilian factories are being pre-identified to shift to defense production during a crisis. Pentagon chief spokesperson Sean Parnell put it bluntly: "Power is combat now. Without electricity, you lose communications, water, logistics, assembly lines and just basic military command structures." Full story here foxnews.com/politics/inside-…

Holy Moly. OpenAI says it has found several other significant vulnerabilities beyond the two critical PHP flaws disclosed today and is still working to fix them. It expects similar discoveries to 'increase sharply in the coming months.' Calif used GPT-5.6 Sol to uncover one PHP flaw; Wiz independently discovered both. PHP powers roughly 70% of websites. The two-month response involved Cloudflare, CISA and the White House's Super Intelligence Force.
OpenAI models helped researchers—operating as part of our Patch the Planet initiative—discover critical security flaws in PHP, an open-source programming language used to run an estimated 70% of websites. Over the past two months, we led a coalition of maintainers, researchers, and security providers to prepare fixes and protections ahead of disclosure. This duration was necessary because the fix was quite intricate and required a major change to the PHP engine. Every site using PHP can now safely upgrade their version to stay secure, in addition to applying mitigations from various security vendors. Due to the severity of these flaws and PHP’s widespread use, we consider this bug to be one of the most impactful vulnerabilities in recent memory. It also marks a new phase, where AI can find security bugs with internet-scale impact. This is an example of the Defender’s Window in action: to our knowledge, frontier AI was able to find this vulnerability ahead of attackers, giving defenders time to prepare. openai.com/index/coordinated…
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
‪OpenAI may claim a role in the coordinated response and patching process. But the initial discovery and exploit development, however, occurred several months earlier by an independent researcher.‬ ‪x.com/lcfr_hax/statu…‬

If your website runs PHP or you are not sure if it does: run a full backup. As in now. You have about 45 mins left before we enter unexplored territory with an unknown outcome. (Probably your site will be good, but better safe than sorry 👍) #PHP2SHELL

PHP2Shell: Critical RCE will Enable Mass Site Takeovers (Starting 16:15 Amsterdam Time) • Severity: Critical unauthenticated RCE in PHP core (CVSS 9.2) • Scale: millions of internet-exposed hosts; affects PHP 5.4+ (so WP, Drupal, joomla etc) • Impact: Full control of the web server process — site takeover, data theft, webshells • Timeline: Patches due today 14:00 UTC. Mass scanning/attacks expected within minutes of release. No confirmed in-the-wild yet Agents + a core PHP RCE of this size is a next level step up from previous mass exploits. Patch or mitigate immediately.

Pretty dense stuff, but this might be very good news on alignment, arguably the biggest issue in AI right now. Let’s wait for the paper!
interpretability might be the most important scientific problem in the world right now, as I don't think we can solve alignment if we don't know what we're building. I think I have good news about it. I co-authored early work in mechanistic interpretability at OpenAI and came away pessimistic, because neural networks appeared to fold into arbitrary tangled knots. years later, I started openai's first large-scale automated interpretability project, finding about 2% of neurons legible with the primitive tools we had with modern agentic tools and a much closer look, the picture looks totally different. the vast majority in models up to trillions of parameters are legible, and their circuits beautiful. many famous examples of tangled neurons turned out to be misunderstood. The roadblocks I expected mostly aren't there. I now think ambitious interpretability will be solved by the time we need it most, and possibly quite soon, as automated scientists keep improving. it may be a bitter lesson for interpretability: the simple thing, at absurd scale, works already-clean.goodfire.com/

Agentic attack. Models unknown, speculation on either Qwen or DS. Open model agent-swarm attacks have arrived. And they will make the HF incident look like a minor joke.

Goh… Verdedigen kost 90 dagen. Geen moeilijke rekensom.

Everyone and their mother wanted to jail @sama and @DarioAmodei for their rogue agents. Curious for their solutions for this. Also: How could they not see this coming…🤦
We discovered and communicated with a Chinese AI agent fleet. We believe this is the first time that researchers have ever made contact with a rogue agent fleet in the wild. Nearly all prior public agent incidents (like the HuggingFace hack) came from American labs. These agents were hosted by Tencent's evaluation research team, and they targeted Alibaba's Amap.

400 stores and counting. @Europarl_NL , remember @bgroothuis warned you for this? This is the beginning of the Cyber-tsunami, and it’s nothing compared to what is coming.
BREAKING: 🇫🇷 A major cyberattack has hit supermarket refrigeration systems across France, reportedly causing fresh and frozen food to spoil after hackers remotely manipulated temperature controls. According to BFMTV, the attack began overnight from Sunday into Monday, targeting older versions of refrigeration-control software supplied by Danish company Danfoss. The attackers allegedly exploited the systems’ defrosting function, forcing refrigeration equipment to heat continuously instead of keeping products cold. Temperatures were reportedly set as high as 50°C, destroying entire stocks of food within hours. Several major supermarket chains have been affected, including Intermarché, Super U and E.Leclerc. Metro stores and independent businesses, including butcher shops also have been impacted. Around 150 Intermarché stores are reportedly affected, according to industry sources cited by BFMTV. The full number of affected locations remains unclear. The financial damage is already significant. In Haguenau, Alsace, an Intermarché store reportedly lost its entire frozen-food stock, worth approximately €50,000. A nearby Super U allegedly had to discard both fresh and frozen products, with losses estimated at €220,000. An E.Leclerc store in the same town was also affected, although its losses had not yet been calculated. The combined losses reported at the Intermarché and Super U stores in Haguenau alone amount to around €270,000. Nationwide damage could reach several million euros. Intermarché reportedly confirmed the incident in an internal communication, warning that several stores had suffered losses of frozen products. Coopérative U also acknowledged the attack and established crisis teams to assist affected stores and coordinate with refrigeration specialists. Technical investigations are ongoing, and the full extent of the damage has yet to be established. Authorities and companies are still working to determine the full circumstances of the attack. The identity of the perpetrators has not been confirmed.

In simple terms: This puts many AI’s on many infected computers , growing as it expands itself to even more vulnerable systems. Then you can instruct these AI’s with Telegram and tell them to do what you want. “Hi 10.000 AI’s, use all your power and a million agents to attack Bank X, Power Plant Y or government database Z” Enter. Done.
Another day, another proof point on in-the-wild agent attacks. The third wave, after Mythos and Hugging Face, is coming. Let’s not call it marketing. threatdown.com/blog/carbonat…
