"Robots are not a category of hardware. Robots are the category that makes everything else."
@evanbeard is building AI-native industrial robot arms in New York, designed and built in the US.
In this episode of ODDS, we went inside @standardbots, from the room where they make their own circuit boards to the floor where robots learn new tasks in minutes, and hear why it took seven years to sell their first 100 robots, how his friends staged an intervention to get him to quit, and why he testified to Congress about American manufacturing.
0:00 America is falling behind on robots
1:38 7 years to sell the first 100 robots
3:18 From web design to Y Combinator to robots
5:29 A robot anyone can use with an iPad
6:40 Why build robots in America, not China
7:43 Inside the in-house electronics room
9:46 Robots are the next platform
11:59 The friends' intervention
17:34 Why arms, not humanoids
18:17 Why 70% reliability is a terrible teammate
22:52 The odds of building the next Apple or Nvidia
It’s time to stop endlessly topping up Higgsfield 💸
As a builder in the AI video space, I was terrified about how much markup API providers charge for simply routing the models.
Higgsfield API adds a 40% markup even with its maximum advertised discount. Fal adds 100%. Runway adds 414% (Seedance 2 480p)
I might be hated by the industry, but :
Today, we’re launching Sume API, the first image & video model provider with 0% markup.
For example with Seedance 2.5 1080p
• 50% cheaper than fal
• 50% cheaper than higgsfield api (29% even with biggest discount)
• 28.02% cheaper than kie ai
The routing infrastructure layer is never the moat. We believe that APIs should be commoditized, and the moats will be built at the application layer.
Check the pricing comparisons below, and see how the broken industry is saved.
fun fact: I still do most launch videos for Krea myself.
I made this one using a tool I built over the weekend, we may add it to Krea soon.
here I prompt it to add sparkles in the green region; you can talk to it, have it designing on Figma, and "train" agents to learn the kind of visuals or motion you like.
starting Wednesday with the @krea_ai live webinar. The speed and precise edit of Krea 3 are just amazing!
guys any recs for a good sticker printing shop in sf? just looking to get some brand logo stickers printed.
Physical AI is the main character of sf tech week this year.
