Bryce Young isn't the Panthers' problem.
Carolina ranks 31st of 32 in pass block win rate.
Young has been pressured on 44.3% of his dropbacks against four or fewer pass rushers. Highest rate of any QB in the NFL. That's five blockers losing to four rushers.
He's faced 64 pressures this season. Second-most in the league.
The sacks are charted to the line. Fortner: 4 allowed. Lewis: 4. Hunt beaten cleanly in Week 7.
And through five games, behind all of that, Young was top-10 in efficiency per play, averaged 9.4 air yards per throw, led the NFL in 10+ yard completions, and set a franchise record with 11 TD passes.
Quarterbacks who are the problem don't do that.
What changed is medical. He hurt his knee in Week 3 and has played in a brace since. His pressure-to-sack rate is 17.3% on the season against an 18.4% career mark. The last two weeks: 35.7% and 27.3%.
The escaping stopped. The pressure never did.
Taylor Moton played seven quarters all year and is done for the season. Ekwonu is out after knee surgery. Carolina's tackles are a rookie and a free agent signing.
Put any QB back there and he gets hit.
Firing Evero will give us a good chance to evaluate the players we have on defense and see who is really not good and who was held back by Evero
The exact take i’d expect out of this kind of guy
“[Ejiro Evero] is a very good coach, man.”
@danorlovsky7 and the crew give their initial reactions to the Panthers firing their defense coordinator.
No we aren’t switching to a 4-3 mid season. Learning a defense takes weeks and months in the offseason, we aren’t switching and learning something brand new in just 10 days.
Wait. Did Canales really take back play calling? A theory

Idzik's mic was up on his head and Canales was down when they showed them both on camera in between the first offensive play and the 2nd offensive play of the 2nd half drive.
Anything helps
BREAKING:
The Carolina Panthers should be considered one of the favorites to land talented young offensive lineman Jackson Powers-Johnson via trade with the Raiders, per @SirrPurrSource.

He gave up play calling to be better at exactly this. This is your #1 in game job at this point. You simply cannot be that bad end of game. Just made the wrong decision at every turn.
Do yall think Canales is telling Idzik what to call? Offense looks completely different these last few weeks
End of game management was absolutely horrible from Canales.
-Goes for two for no reason
-Went for it on 4th when you should’ve punted
-burned all of our time outs
-left 22 seconds on the clock and you need to go 80 yards AND get the two point conversion
Speechless
